You KNOW it's gonna suck when those brontosaurus ribs end up making somebody's car flip over.

This business will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it.

But I shall try, with beer in one hand and FARK in teh other.

OMG! Snowflakes! Nooooooo!

(I'm a Canadian.) Every year for 407 years now the snow has caught my ancestors by surprise*. Like it never happened before. A guy in the elevator at work claimed to have seen some snowflakes recently. But like global warming, it doesn't count if you don't see it personally. We usually get our first snow on Halloween, give or take three days so we're about par for the course if a few flakes fall here, or for that matter, in New Brunswick.

*One of them apparently wintered on Saint Croix Island, in what is now New Brunswick, with Champlain in 1604. Many Frenchmen died that winter. The Limeys hadn't found the link between fresh fruit and scury yet, and the Indians weren't there to share the secret of Balsam Fir tea, so they also suffered from scurvy I believe.

Unfortunately? I'm going to the Sabres game tonight and there's a Bills game tomorrow. I say fortunately.

All the trees here still got leaves on 'em. If we actually get 6-10, the treestruction will take down all kinds of power lines.

It's been a while since we missed the first big storm of the year here in central Ontario. Good luck to the folks in it's path; hope you have your batteries & supplies ready, all that wet snow is going to cause a lot of outages.

I'm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge in northern Virginia. We've got about 3" on the grass or leaves.

The weirdest part about this storm is that we hadn't even had a killing frost yet, and now the plants (still in bloom) are covered in snow.

2011-10-29 02:25:14 PM
This:

"A foot of heavy wet, back-breaking snow will plaster areas north and west of I-95..."

followed by:

"Whatever snow accumulates may not last long. The forecast is for clear skies and temperatures in the high 40s to low 50s beginning Sunday and through Tuesday."

Better get out and shovel that shiat before it melts.

Central PA, here. We've already built a snowman in our front yard. Had to stay out from underneath the trees in case any of the snow-laden branches fell. I fully anticipate that we' ll be without electricity in a few hours.

trees and branches are down everywhere around my home in northern nj. and we havent hit the worst of it yet. high winds and heavier snow predicted after sunset. I'm not worried. I'm sure the jersey women can handle 4-8 inches like they'd predicting.

Some pretty heavy snow at lunchtime on the CT coast. It's easing off now, but there's lots of tree damage, and ominous creaking sounds from the woods at the end of the garden.

Silly subby: the name Brontosaurus got sunk into Apatosaurus decades ago. The fact no one knows this is because of the secret anti-sauropod hadrosaur-supremacist shadow government. Like, duhhhh!

Sometimes it will snow during a cold snap when there is a wet-weather forecast.

Paging Mr. Romero

(it is snowing in Alexandria, VA, but the rain will wash it all away)
(I'd much rather see a brontosaurus)

What's a blizzard? Isn't that when the temperature drops down to 60 degrees, and I have to put on a sweat shirt before I can go jogging outside?
