Wow! 2700 year old evidence that childbirth actually happened! I thought the practice had gone extinct 2800 years ago.

After reviewing the picture, it's unclear whether that's supposed to be childbirth or maybe someone taking an epic dump.

Can we be sure that's not midget porn?

More like a squatting bearded man who needed more fiber in his diet.

It's the ancient version of "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant"

So they just pop a squat and let the baby fall to the ground?

Could be I'm delirious with a fever but the article said 2 images and I only see one.
NOT as bad as an article about an image without said image, but pretty close.
jeebus FARK has turned me picky, but yet more observent at the same time.

I like that. It's early Etruscan, you say?

Looks like porn to me. They've uncovered the menu in an Etruscan brothel.

The image they provided is cropped. A second, partial stamp is just to the right of the full impression you see in the article.

2700 years of people seeing images in inanimate objects?

At least they didn't say it was the Virgin Mary.

Do you see the letter M in the bottom half? The uprights on the outside are the woman's calves, the diagonals are the thighs, and the vertical drop is the baby (with a torso, neck, and finally head at the bottom near her feet). Above the M is the woman's torso, which goes up into a head. The head is facing right, towards an upraised arm.

That's what I think they're saying it is, at least.

That is really interesting. Having studied History in college, I noticed how rare discussions of child birth or child rearing are in the discipline. It just never seemed like a focus of study regarding ancient peoples.
