It's called Cursday but never really caught on like Caterday.

Waiting for the follow-up, in which the faithful dog then buried its owner alongside his old bone collection.

I made a suggestion for a "Cursday" some months back since I know there are just as many dog lovers on fark as their are those who love their cats. It was denied. :-(

Unfortunately "safety" was into the middle of a rain-slicked, darkened roadway.

'Doggerday Tag'?

Sounds close to an inappropriate UK term. English, English experts - I need a ruling.

Captioned dogs just aren't funny. Plus, I bet Drew regrets allowing Caturdays in the first place. Psycho cat owners are the worst.

Man, I don't know if I'd be cheering for my dog randomly dragging me 100 yards after he was struck with lighting. I'd probably take him to the vet or something.

As a cat lover, I cannot defend against this. Some cat owners are batshiat insane. Not me mind you... I just look at some threads and go, "holy hell this person is a nut."

Since lightning does not strike twice in the same place. He technically pulled him IN to harms way.

Tokyo will begin a feral cat eradication program soon. Not everyone loves those little flea bags.

As for captioned dogs, I particularly like this one.

AverageAmericanGuy: Tokyo will begin a feral cat eradication program soon.

I don't know if it's 'bout time or horrible.

On one hand, there's a ton of feral cats here and nothin's wrong. I enjoy them.

On the other hand, all it would take is one good outbreak of rabies in the cats and suddenly you're looking at something BAD. Even if only .01% of Tokyo was endangered, that's still a hundred and twenty thousand people. Even if only 1% of that danger is exposure, that's still a LOT of people to come down with rabies. Most deaths will be kids who don't know to tell mom they got a scratch from kitty. Horrible stuff to contemplate.

But like I said, there's no indications that there will be some kind of rabies pandemic. I bet it's really just some yaks tired of stepping in cat shiat in their local watering holes.

Also, you'll see a rat explosion immediately after this cull. Mark my words. As it is now you only see rats in Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and other super urban settings where there's enough people to drive away cats. Out in the suburbs being a mouse is like being a chocolate cake at a fark party.

Just killing them doesn't work well. Cats can have 3 litters a year. Feral cats hang around an area because there is a food source. If you take out some of the feral cats, others will move into that area. It's much more effective to live trap them, spay/neuter them (and give them rabies shots), notch their ear and then release them back to where they were captured. Feral cats don't have a long life span, so this way they die out naturally without creating new generations.

I've long said that the difference between a dog and a cat is that if you are attacked/injured a dog will try to protect you/save you and if you die, mourn your passing.

In all of these cases a cat will wait until you're dead then eat the soft parts.

Caturday seems to have turned into a primarily TF thread. They're greening it too early, I think. Look at todays - over 250 already and still over an hour to go before it hits the main page. And most are repeat images from previous caturday threads.

/not wading through all that to find the few original gems

No kidding. And dogs in mourning are the worst! My old guy died Thursday, and my Lab is going to drive me batshiat crazy with the waking me up every 15 minutes to make sure I'm breathing.

Maybe we don't want to hang with all animals... maybe we don't like some of them... like cats, for instance... see Snoopy cartoon above.

I'm a dog person. I only like cats when they are stir-fried in a wok.

According to the WHO and wikipedia Japan is rabies-free - as you'd expect from an island nation, really.

Even if only .01% of Tokyo was endangered, that's still a hundred and twenty thousand people. Even if only 1% of that danger is exposure, that's still a LOT of people to come down with rabies. Rats and mice only flourish with the availability of food, so if poor food hygiene is being practiced - open waste areas, poorly maintained buildings and the like - yes, you can expect pests. Remove their access to food and, of course, you don't have a problem.

It'd never be as popular as caturday because unlike cats, dogs aren't infecting their humans with behavior-changing toxoplasmosis.

konekosama; nope, cats don't wait til you're cold. as soon as you stop breathing you become fair game

Exactly.

When a person dies at home alone, if they have a dog then the dog will howl and bark endlessly. If it gets hungry enough it will dig through drywall and claw through a door to get to its' food.

A cat, on the other hand, will start eating you almost immediately.

Dogs see you as their loyal and caring partner (boss), cats see you as a easily manipulated shlub. Said another way, your dog trusts you, your cat does not.

Exactly why cats are cooler than dogs. And why it's sometimes amusing to see them captioned.
