This just in: Anarchists don't like rules.

2011-10-28 07:23:03 PM
They aren't anarchists. They are something-something. Let them smoke weed!

"It would be best for everybody, including the demonstrators, if the impasse could be resolved without resorting to police in riot gear," the paper urged. "Another location for the protest should be found, and if the participants are organized enough to put out a joint statement, they're organized enough to negotiate a peaceful departure."

It actually seems to be in the protestors best interest to act like trolls to the cops and then get the shiat beaten out of them when they are unarmed. In fact that is pretty much the only tool they have right now.

2011-10-28 07:48:50 PM
The farktards smoking pot are why I am not out at the protests here.

Of course this gets the greenlight.

Here comes the stupid.

Is it ironic to assert your power while you protest...power?

Isn't it legal in LA? That being said, who cares.

Apparantly the 99% don't know about the Constitution's "Supremacy Clause".

It seems that OWS groups across the country are experiencing a rash of problems resulting in a quick lesson on basic civics. Something they so obviously did not get in high school or college.

2011-10-28 08:54:40 PM
I don't have a problem with weed, but it's illegal, so doing it is breaking the law, the law may be stupid, but it's still against the law... get the law changed, and do it whenever you want. Doing it while it's illegal however, is breaking the law, so expect people to have problems with it.

Personally, I won't inhale smoke from any plant, because smoke is bad, and I don't want to ruin my lungs. What you do when you're not around me doesn't bother me. If you want to be taken seriously, follow the laws until you can get them changed.

Well then there's no way we should forgive those student loans. They pissed away the cash.

It's really not as bad as that.

A group I belong to has been asked to provide mediation and facilitation services for the Occupy LA movement--not to decide anything, you understand, but to evaluate what's going on and create a forum to discuss the situation rationally and without screeching and flailing. Based on our discussion so far, it's not even as dramatic as the media would like to believe, just the friction one would expect when a new culture emerges based on the idea that everyone's opinion is equally valid and should be given equal weight, and debate is predicated on the concept that "Organization is Evil."

I'm looking forward to the challenge of creating a structured anarchy, myself.

You know what's good for a hangover, right?

In all seriousness, the filth, drug use, and squalor surrounding this movement is somewhat reminiscent of the hippie movement. Not quite full on hippie, but hippie light, maybe. Lots of bongo drums and dreadlocks among the unwashed masses at OWS in NYC the other day. Admittedly it might not be that way everywhere. I wasn't there...just judging based on pics and commentary from my sister.

Pot smokers at Occupy rallys:
thesignalinthenoise.files.wordpress.com

I'm not saying it's wrong, but you're not helping the cause. Go home to your apartment, blaze up, eat some funyuns, then go down to the rally... In that order only.

There's only one way to settle this:

Occupy Occupy!

India got Gandhi's salt march, and we get these A$$-Clowns. Yet OWS wonders why no one is listening to them.

2011-10-28 09:07:04 PM
It's just plain rude to smoke around others. If they are so addicted that they just can't imagine being able to avoid smoking that crap while at the protest site, then they should start their own site away from the others who don't want to deal with the foul stench or the added attraction it would create for over-eager law enforcement to disrupt the protest.

I've been saying that many, if not most, people are there to party and care only mildly about the issue.

Now the lines are drawn. I won't claim that every pot smoker is there to party, or that everyone against pot smoke cares deeply about the issue at hand. But more or less, that's where the lines are.

Please spare me any arguments that pot is just an act of defiance. It doesn't hurt anyone else (which you advocates like to point out) so it's a pretty lame act, and you're pretty naive if you think someone is standing there thinking, "How can I be civilly disobedient today? I know, I'll smoke some weed! That'll show 'em we mean business! It's not because I want to get high or anything." Nope, these people are smoking because they see Occupy as a party.

What I want to know is why some douchebag anti smoking group hates people smoking cigarettes but to fire up a doobie is ok?

Seems to me that those that are against smokers are the same ones who have livers the size of Rhode Island.

So many pussies in one thread. From the predictable "ooh, I don't smoke anything and my shiat don't stink either" to the always hilarious "it's illegal so don't do it".

I stand firmly with the reasonable chap who said "Don't do it at the protest, that's dumb. Do it at home and go to the protest. Leave the protest and go do it and come back to the protest.", all sarcasm aside.

I guess Canada must just be a much cooler country than the USA, because the people I interact with everyday on the east coast of Canada (particularly Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, home of Trailer Park Boys) are way more laid back and tolerant (not to mention down to earth) compared to some of you farking nancies ITT.

Or are you all such big blubbering vaginas that you can't even handle the THOUGHT of someone, somewhere, enjoying themselves in a way that you, and your small mind, can't understand or appreciate.

Sunday night last weekend, about 11pm, I brought a big bag of Doritos to donate to OccupySF.

I shout out "IF ANY OF YOU HAVE BEEN SMOKING MARIJUANA, AND HAVE THE MUNCHIES, SOMEONE HAS JUST DONATED A BIG BAG OF DORITOS".

Sure enough, the stoners shuffle in to the kitchen. One of them said "Oh wow, man. I thought you said someone donated burritos".

Hi.

Get a thousand plus people together, and they will inordinately exhibit their requisite behaviors...

Get a grip.

S'Okay.

Let it be, man.

Seriously.

Some folks smoke, some folks don't, and that's okay.

Wow, how does it feel to be human out loud?

Good?

I know, right?

Human is okay, okay?

Okay.

;)

P.S. Word.

LOL, and you're a "believer in Liberty"? You sound like a soccer dad with a polo and an idea of fun which includes "playing Bridge on a SCHOOL NIGHT".

Praytell, when did you castrate your testicles and eviscerate your manhood to the point where you demanded social conformity to the point of sterility from all members of a decidedly varied (and generally much more tolerant and hardy, not to mention fun-loving) species?

More like the booze and a bad attitude when it comes to little farking pussies masquerading as men (a common problem, particularly amongst the "rugged individualist -- until someone does somefing I don't WWIIIIIIKE" contingent).

The funniest part is that the American Founding fathers had no problem with the hemp and cannabis plants (for disparate uses), and, though disputed, here is a nice partial list.

Link (new window)

You'll note Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Lincoln, Madison, and Washington, amongst others.

So whatever, brah. Your patriot is showing.
