I have a medal. If you strike me down,
I will become more hip than you can possibly imagine.
Unless it requires reading something in that middle distance, and then I'm screwed.

But what if people say to you "Steve, isn't it seriously too late to be trying to publish a humor book about Twitter?"

Then I'll say "I forgot...that Twitter jumped the shark right around the Arab Spring."

And if they say "Steve...c'mon, you're a legendary comic with dozens of movies, albums, and TV appearances. You're seriously trying to tell us that you thought this was a good idea?"

Than I'll say "Well EXCUUUUUUUUUUUSE....MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"

Bullshiat. Check his book Pure Drivel. You're off by a few years. Released in 1998

Indeed.

I remember reading Cruel Shoes in my high school library.

I'm going to publish a book of my best tweets and by that I mean I will have them tattooed on heavily sedated hipsters who live in that little room in my basement.

His story about his weed-induced panic attack had me in stitches!

But seriously, it is a good read.

So is Simon Pegg's "Nerd Do Well". Reading Craig Ferguson's bio right now. What can I say? I'm a sucker for comedian autobiographies. I guess I read way too much about politics, sometimes I need some non-fiction that doesn't make me want to punch myself in the face repeatedly.

Some comedians age like a fine wine, others turn into vinegar.

All I'm saying is, toss Steve Martin with some olive oil and lettuce and you'll have a great salad.

The Gordie Howe Hat Trick: Meh. Met him, think he's kind of a dick.

I bet those people that went to see him at that Q&A think he was a dick too.

This is all part of his cunning plan to get a deal for a TV show based on his book about twatting.

2011-10-28 08:02:35 PM
It is not a book per se, more like a post-it note really.

2011-10-28 08:29:06 PM
Perhaps he should do a poster.

STeve martin was my comedy hero as a kid. His twitter is pathetically self-conscious and trying way, way to hard to be "witty." I follow a lot of comedians and he is abolutely one of the least funny.

Only time I've seen Steve Martin was when it was with his bluegrass outfit. I think today that's the only way I would see him now.

I really liked Pleasure Of My Company as well. Of course, I may be in the minority here.

Clever, but wrong. His tweets are often quite funny. Jerry Seinfeld on the other hand...

Gangway Fathead: ians and he is abolutely one of the least funny.

Couldn't agree more. I love Steve Martin more as a writer than an actor/comedian now. With the exception of his appearance on 30 Rock. Shop Girl (the book) I enjoyed very much. The movie not so much.

The only reason I go to Twitter at all is to see what Conan O'Brien has to say. He's usually funny at least half the week. Plus, he only posts once a day. If you have some suggestions, please put them in the thread!

Wow! A real-life person who uses the word "philistine" non-ironically!
