Thanks for hurting my brain with that godawful trainwreck of a headline.

he might damage GOP chances of capturing the Senate: Republican successes down the ticket will depend on the energies of the tea party and other conservatives

This is the big problem. The GOP has given up on taking the white house in 2012, and they're actually ok with that. What they want, is to take the Senate and keep the House. That way, they can keep Obama from doing anything to help the middle class.

If the Obama/Bachman election is a repeat of 1984, but the GOP does well with the rest of the elections, they've won.

*That's* their problem with Romney- he's not crazy enough to get the hoards to the voting booth.

Conservative candidates MUST march in goose lock step to have any chance at all

2011-10-28 04:30:40 PM
Oh, the conservative intelligentsia is REALLY starting to freak out now, since the Republicans' brilliant strategy of promoting uneducated telegenic insane dipshiats for President is beginning to backfire.

OMG I can't vote for Romney! He's qualified, sure, but he doesn't agree with me 100% of the time on every single issue.

And if I may add, at the risk of tooting my own horn, I've had two George-Will-related headlines greenlit today.

It's a rare feat, and in the submission game is known as a "Zircon Sombrero."

Well done.

I've gotten two Townhall links in the same day. Which I believe is called a "Dookie Derby".

And of course two TPMs, which is called "Wednesday".

There are exactly two things George Will knows beans about. Politics and baseball. Unfortunately he actually thinks he's competent in both fields.

/ Would rather admit to owning Pete Rose scratch and sniff baseball cards than ever read Will's drivel on baseball ever again.

Don't shiat on Priest and Maiden like that. Associating two of the greatest metal bands ever with George Will. Jesus.

Romney's candidacy is on the edge of a knife this coming week. His "Question 2" gaffe has conservatives absolutely furious, and the right wing commentary machine is for the first time gingerly giving him a little trouble. If the polls that come out next week show his support falling in the least, blood will be in the water and they will destroy him.

2011-10-28 05:47:11 PM
I'm a little surprised by that pullout quote given that most of Will's columns include what we would call data. If he's talking about polling data, I can understand his irritation at the prospect of having to vote for Romney.

But of course the writer doesn't make that rather obvious observation. I understand why people who lean left don't like Will but can't this guy make an effort. You know, at least call the guy. Do some reporting maybe.

I think he actually stopped wearing a bow tie years ago. But somehow he still seems like a bow tie kind of guy.

I'm just waiting for George Will to launch into an emotional, rambling and extremely public booze-fueled tirade. The man is a time bomb.

2011-10-28 05:52:35 PM
Well he is pretty much the epitome of what is wrong with the financial gurus wrecking this country. He's like a Morman re-make of Wall Street with Michael Douglas.

He's more like nouveau riche, than elitist, but that peckerwood Will wouldn't know the difference.

My impression with the quote about data was that Romney was influenced by polling data, not scientific data (e.g. climate change, evolution, etc.).

Will is a pretentious douche, but he is a great baseball writer.

I would so love to sit in a room and listen to him say "truck nutz" over and over again.

I saw Priest open for Maiden. We had 4th row seats. It kicked ass. Unfortunately due to a baseball game letting out at one venue while the concert was filling in ay the venue next door we missed Testament opening for Priest.

My estimation of Will would increase by at least epsilon if he appreciated Maiden. Or Priest. Or Sabbath. Or anything not flaccid and insipid and centrist.

George Will must've thanked the stars above when Bill Kristol came on the scene, it gave him coverage to phone it in and just collect his paychecks. Georgie's been running on autopilot since 1997 at least, but no one notices because Bill Kristol's worse.

who is George Will? honestly, i'm asking for a fark'er-spun opinion here. i will do the background wiki reading.

utah dude: who is George Will?

In 1980, I voted him the man I would most like to spill a glass of red wine on at a cocktail party. That was 31 years ago. Now, he's just a sad, little fella who wears bow ties and faps to baseball statistics.

2011-10-28 07:13:32 PM
I know what you're thinking: does George Will earn seven figures or only six. Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is George Will, the most powerful pundit in the world, and would blow you clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Worf? WORF???!!!
You think a republican would take cues from the TNG's token? A guy from a race the original series used as a metaphor for the godless commies in the Soviet Union?

Republicans would obviously take their cues from the Ferengi. They'd totattly go for the Rules of Acquisition and keeping women as nekkid property.

Did George also comment on the woeful prominence of the dungaree in American attire?

Bloody William: Yeah. The man is a farking elitist elemental. He wasn't born, he was summoned from the elitis tplane by an elitomancer.

Boggles the farking mind.

I wished Intrade accepted my credit cards, because i would put a few grand on Obama winning. This is the Republicans best hope against Obama? A guy who has been running the past 4 years for this moment, and he's still sitting at the same 25% polling as he did 4 years ago. In all that time, he couldn't even convince his own party to like him, what chance does he have convincing everybody else?

How cum you can put testicles on your truck where everybody on the roads have to see them (and actually watch them carefully for hours on the highway because you're a dumbass and jerk), but you can't show full frontal male nudity on the TV which anybody with the skillz of a two year old child can turn off if they're offended by what they see?

You know. An elitist Mitt Romney might not be a bad idea. Maybe he could start believing in global warming again.

Interesting.

In that scenario a 3d party run by La Belle Sarah drives the mouthbreathers to the polls to vote their 'Conscience' with neither candidate being a 'Proper Christian'.

The trick would be to keep other Fundies from going 3d party downticket.
