I disagree with pet health insurance not being worth it. You just have to find a good company, and believe me I did me research because most of them are bullsh*t. As well as researching prices and benefit schedules I called all the companies instead of just going online. Any company's line that picked up out of the country with a rep that barely spoke English was automatically off the list.
Pet's Best Insurance was the winner. I pay 40 dollars a month for my dog's "wellness" plan (you can get plans for 20 bucks or less) but it covers an yearly exam, shots, a dental cleaning every other year and up to 80% of $10,000 in case of sickness or accident.
Just the regular vet checks where I live a expensive, so it already pays for itself.
And I would really not be able to afford thousands of dollars in vet bills if something were to happen- 40 bucks a month I can.

Dogs are stupid and will love you even if you're a prick. The only people who like dogs are instant-satisfaction seeking and lazy.

I also believe most people love the idea of a dog being mans best friend more than they love the dogs themselves.

The dog is an indispensable part of human civilization. It has been with us since the beginning. It chases vermin, assists the disabled, tracks game and criminals, provides therapy, pulls sleds, aids in rescues and searches, guards property, hunts, herds, and even fights in our wars. The dog has been used for transportation and weaponry. It has kept us alive in times of duress, and it has kept us company in those depressing times when we were most lonely. It can even smell cancer.

All the unpleasantries in life have been softened by the unconditional loyalty, support and companionship of the dog, who only asks for food, shelter, and a little compassion in return.

Yeah, not buying anti-flea medication from walmart.

I tried this once, and it nearly killed my dog, he went into seizures and started drooling uncontrollably. The vet basically explained that the stuff they use in that particular brand of flea juice (or whatever) has been known to cause issues. Frontline has worked perfectly fine, with no seizures ever since.

That's NikoNiko and sometimes Nikkou. The first means "smiling" and the second is "sunshine" so you can see how it's difficult to choose so I just stick to Niko.

There is a pretty little girl I know, she's Niko. She is pretty sweet and good for sure. How she b so sweet and good that pretty Niko girl.

Skye here was a great member of our family for 13 years. She protected my house and my kids, was always there to greet me when I came home and all she wanted from us was love, attention and a place to live.

I had to have her put down 2 days ago because of kidney failure. Not sure I'll ever find a dog as great as she was. :-(

I love dogs a lot. But they are too needy and when I am at work, I can be away from the house for 13 hours a day. That is cruel for dogs. So I have inmates(cats) and I am their warden. They are nice to me when they want something and annoy me frequently when I didn't listen the first time.
But I love them and they remind me of why I need to stay away from women, who act just like cats. So in the end I save a crapload of money.

I've spent about $6,000 on my dogs this year (five of them). One was hit by a car and had to have her tail removed (not to mention the 6' privacy fence I had to have built because the electronic fence, which never failed, didn't deter her). Another one just had a leg removed due to bone cancer. I still like 'em more than I like most people. I've got a great vet though - he gives a 15% discount to military, law enforcement and firefighters/emt's. And my house will never be burglarized.

This is my big puppy (140 lbs at 1 year old) on his first boat ride this summer.

that's funny I've never had a problem with it and from what I can tell it's the same chemical and the same strength.
and I researched it on the web before using it.

Years ago, I don't remember my family being as concerned with annual checkups and such with our dog. If he got hurt, he saw the vet, but I honestly don't remember him getting shots every year, etc. I guess it wasw a different time. I do remember he got distemper and the vet pretty much told my mom he was a lost cause. My mom brought LaMont home (yeah, named after the son from "Sanford and Son"), forced a couple of shots of bourbon down his throat, he ran all over the house like a maniac, dove under a bed, and slept for three days. He woke up cured. Lived for another 6 years. If one of my dogs got distemper now, I'd probably spend a small fortune trying to save them. Maybe I'd try bourbon first.

I don't know that it was the one that uses the frontline chemical, this was 2 years ago. For all I know it's no longer around.
