Very nice.

Though - and this is coming from a trans person - I would wonder if she is being tested for her testosterone levels during competition prep. While it's nothing I (or any other transwoman I know) would do, it is theoretically possible for a transwoman to build much more muscles mass than a cisgendered woman, by not reducing (or not reducing as much) the testosterone levels.

I don't think she's doing this - I would more be concerned about accusations of unfairness when she competes. Let her be tested as much as the other contestants, and they can review the results so they can tell people to STFU.

/Actually, a post-Orchi transwoman - or one on sufficient anti-androgens - has less testosterone - and therefore less ability to get and maintain muscle mass - than a ciswoman would; she'd have to work harder.
//Ovaries produce testosterone; a typical woman has between 20 and 100 (uncertain about units); I have 10.

Exception Collection: I would wonder if she is being tested for her testosterone levels during competition prep.

The video said there was no drug testing and no gender checking. Something like that. Also, another woman competing thinks it unfair since she has had longer time with testosterone (her whole life) than other women competitors have had.

I think that's the only thing that would be 'off' on this. Her muscles are developed while as a male.

Not if I hit it first with a 2x4 to the head.

At work, so no video goodness for me, just article.

Actually, the longer with testosterone may or may not be a BS argument. If she was bodybuilding the entire time - sure, that's an issue. If she was only bodybuilding (again) after starting hormones? Not so much. Even when you have the muscle mass to begin with, it becomes harder and hard to maintain it - think about wrestlers on steroids, and how they bounce between muscular and flabby.

"Ciswoman". What is this word?

TheDumbBlonde: "Ciswoman". What is this word?

Ciswoman: Short for Cisgendered woman.

Cisgendered: Opposite of Transgendered; person with matching gender and sex. Etymology: from the Latin "cis" (same side as), and the word gender.

No.

I don't think gender matters much in the appearance of body builders. Both sexes seem to have massive pecs and tiny peckers and look like baked fatfree turkeys.

"Growing up, few people were aware that the 6-foot, 3-inch Bruce secretly identified as a female -- and she didn't make any attempt to let friends or family in on the secret."

Ugh, that drives me insane for some reason. You cannot use the pronoun HER. It is a MAN. I don't care what he thinks or imagines himself to be, the DNA is clear - IT IS A GOD DAMN MAN.

It's shorter than typing out "actual woman", so it's convenient!

Well she does look more feminine than most other female body builders.

Reminds me of the scene from Skin Deep where the american gladiator farked John Ritter

Your OB/GYN probably already knows the term. Most health professionals that have dealt with transgendered patients do. It's one of those things that becomes an important distinction when you actually run into it.

Raithun: It's shorter than typing out "actual woman", so it's convenient!

"Actual woman" would be incorrect, though. By what you are saying, I would think that a transgendered man - that is, female to male - would be an "actual woman". From a medical perspective, though, he would be quite different, and would need different treatments.

I wouldn't worry about it, if he couldn't do it in his twenties and there's not a chance in hell now.

Well then, by your own definition, an actual woman is a transgendered man. ALRIGHTY then.

Why not just type "woman?" Most folks know what that word means. Why should the overwhleming majority of women born as women need a new word?

If I had to (desert island?) I'd rather be with a Baily Jay type then someone who has been under the knife.

The whole "cis-" thing is something I've never really gotten. I mean, I AM a filthy tranny, and I've not used "cis-". Woman, man, transwoman, transman work for me, least pre-op. Post-op, you are what yer genital configuration is.

TheDumbBlonde: Well then, by your own definition, an actual woman is a transgendered man. ALRIGHTY then.

Ah, no. I'm pointing out that there's a reason for the term - it's a good shorthand for a person's issues.

From my perspective, a transgendered man is exactly that - a transgendered man. A transgendered woman is exactly that - a transgendered woman. And of course, in an ideal world, the only people that know and/or care are either their lover(s) or the medical professionals that treat them; transgendered people should be able to blend into society. We can't, because there's a fairly large number of people that will discriminate against us - and until that group is gone, we need to make ourselves more visible to encourage them to kindly STFU - but it is the ideal.

Do gendered pronouns refer to biological sex, or sociological gender?

How do you define what a "man" is? That they have a penis? XY chromosomes? Masculine physical features? The ability to impregnate a biological female?

What about hermaphrodites or intersex persons who can be born with a vestigal penis, XXY chromosomes, and/or ambiguous genitalia? Or what about biological males who were born infertile? Do you check for a penis on every "man" you see walking down the street just to make sure?

The most relevant question to ask though: Why do you care?

/If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

The answer is they don't need a new word. It's an attempt to make the weenie-loppers feel as if they are just a different type of woman rather than a deeply confused dude.

I mean... when you line up all the competitors, and see that one has a package where nobody else has had a delivery, it may be tough to win. Sure she has boobies, and a nice physique, but in comparison - there's going to be that white elephant in the undercarriage that may end up hurting her chances of winning.

Judge: "Uh, competitor number 5... could you perhaps... 'tuck'"?
