I read somewhere there's a website that makes up anti-Obama, anti-Democrat rumors and circulates them on the Internet as emails. I've gotten a lot of such emails from more conservative friends and thought they were too good to just be created by some backwoods redneck on their PC.

You know, Weekly World News-quality stuff.

As I said in the other thread: It's called desperation. Conservatives have absolutely nothing, so they have to take the Fairytale Train to Magic Town to buy their myths and talking points with whatever magic beans their stupid donors give them.

For most normal, well-adjusted American adults, this would be the point in their lives where they would feel genuinely embarrassed at their antics. For these gibbering basket cases, they're all willing to double-down on the stupid.

I thought this was a scam myself, but two weeks after receiving this e-mail and forwarding it on, Planned Parenthood contacted me for my e-mail and within days, I received a free abortion!

This "rumor" is another part of the grand grades conspiracy, which was also referenced in the above WND article. But it seems to be based on a fake AP story that was originally circulated in a chain e-mail in 2009. Dated April 1st (April Fools' Day), the e-mail subject is "OBAMA - SMOKING GUN FINALLY FOUND?"

phaseolus: Crapinoleum: Here is the opportunity: Make up one that uses all the familiar buzzwords, but have it say that there is clear evidence that [insert wing-nut talking point here] is not true, that [insert reasonable premise here] is the fact. Dress it up just like one of those chain emails (and put a whole raft of evidence that it's been forwarded all over the place), put a lot of familiar outrage in it, send it off to your out-there relatives, and see if you can create a whole new right-wing meme that actually veers toward sanity. This form of "news" dissemination can be used for good! Repurpose!


...and don't forget to say "Snopes checked this out and says it's all true!", even though we're just now making it all up.
