Don't any of them know when it's over? Maybe someone needs to light up a cigar or two for these executives?

I am for this idea, simply to see what convoluted acronyms result from these movies.

ID5? ID4.2? InD2: 4 Part 2?

"Independence Day 2:"

The aliens return with some basic firewall software and maybe require a VPN to get to the admin console. Earth is farked.

why does it have to be aliens? how about the largest army/country left least damaged from the first attack goes all postal to take over the world.

seems feasible, lets say the humans reverse engineer the tech (which we seemed to be doing already) and start leaving the planet, what happens when they run into the rest of the greys?

2011-10-28 01:14:26 PM
This could totally work. A second and then a third alien species invades an obviously weakend erth. They need to be like rape vampires for the second and rape were-wolfs for the third. They literally need to rape a biatch to survive and humans are the tastiest rapiest species around.

Then Will smith's character can save the day, after being raped off course, by introducing both races to the furries who are in rape heaven.

2011-10-28 01:14:33 PM
They be best off doing them without Will Smith, as he's got a terrible reputation for putting projects through development hell and then dropping out of them

2011-10-28 01:18:46 PM
Assuming they got all the aliens in the first one (they didn't have any reserves hanging out in orbit a little ways away from earth?) any sequels are going to revolve around whatever is left of the worlds governments trying to keep starving/freezing/plague ridden survivors from eating each other and burning what's left of civilization to make it through winter.

So that could be fun.

2011-10-28 01:33:26 PM
I thought The Road was the sequel to Independence Day?

2011-10-28 01:36:55 PM
Well I guess it was just a fleet of aliens that got defeated so the rest would probably be pissed they lost and want revenge.

2011-10-28 01:38:06 PM
Except the entire world would be dead.

See there's no way craft of the size the ones in ID4 could enter our atmosphere without destroying our ecosystem. Presumably the craft had some sort of technology to counteract that, until they were all crashed that is.

Within days of that triumphant scene at the end of the movie the earth would be uninhabitable.

Oh and for all the hate about the virus thing it makes perfect sense. He didn't have to code in an alien computer language. The aliens linked their computers to our satellites so they created some sort of translator. And information security would be an alien concept to a hive mind species.

Of course that leaves how they cracked our satellite security in question, not to mention why they didn't bring their own. I mean why use our inferior tech?

So, the sequels are about city sized mother ships crashing down to the surface over highly populated cities and world capitals? Then the surviving aliens exterminate/enslave humanity and assimilate the planet, right?

My favorite part is when redneck Quaid flies his jet into the ship, it's literally RIGHT ABOVE EVERYONE. A ship that's approx. 15 miles wide, weighing millions of tons, crashes straight on top Area 51.

I thought our tech was based off the ship they had in Roswell

I love that movie. I have no problems with its scientific and logical flaws. It has everything a Hollywood popcorn movie should. Aliens, explosions, drunk guy gets redemption and payback, heroic dog, heroic soldier, heroic president, government conspiracy, true love and a marriage, multiple father/son bondings, the best pre-Fringe mad scientist the world had seen to date, the end of the world as we know it, cigar smoking, and much more.

Don't ruin it with a crappy sequel.

What would a Will Smith movie be without Will Smith playing Will Smith? One thing for certain, regardless of what the script says, Will Smith will always play Will Smith as Will Smith.

Where everyone lives forever and severely injured people are turned into living ash clouds that circle the Earth. And some giant vagina runs through the center of the Earth and eats blood.

Get Will on board and make it happen. I'm always up for a sequel. I don't understand all the Fark hate for sequels. Sure, some aren't good, but most are enjoyable. And no, they don't ruin the originals. The originals always will remain as good as they ever were.

OK, maybe a sequel if it's good, but for goodness sake, no third one! Aliens didn't ruin Alien, but the third one, yikes! Brought down the first two movies. Jaws II didn't ruin Jaws, but Jaws 3D, oy! Godfather 3, oof! Name a franchise where the third one was a topper.

The James Bond franchise. The third one was Goldfinger which set the standard and the formula for all that followed until the Daniel Craig reboot - and even the reboot paid homage to it.
