GO CARDS

2011-10-28 12:12:31 PM
The last time a Buck said "We'll see you tomorrow night" the next game was an epic pitching duel and one of the greatest games in World Series history. Let's hope history repeats itself

GO RANGERS!

I have to say, despite what happened in game three, I like Matt Harrison vs. Carpenter on 3 days rest. Because at the first sign of trouble, Holland and CJ will be ready to come in and pitch multiple innings. What I don't like is our other bullpen pieces or our defense right now.

That said, I've got a bad feeling about this game. How will the Rangers respond after blowing that game twice with just one strike to go?

I know. I was sitting in the living room for almost five hours screaming at the TV while my fiancee was looking up stuff for the wedding (she's a Cubs fan). She started getting into the game about the eighth inning, and when Freese hit the game winning homer she got up and started clapping. We're going to a sportsbar downtown tonight to watch the game.

That was...that was an amazing game last night.

Ah yes, the Russian Audience in Rocky IV effect.

Heh. Exactly. She wants them to win, but didn't realize it was actually a game until the bitter end.

Joe Posnanski on Game 6.

Eric Seidman going over Game 6.

Dave Cameron on the sheer number of unlikely plays in last night's game.

Lots of weird managing to boot. Colby Lewis batting with the bases loaded in the fifth? Intentionally putting the winning run on first? Playing outfielders absurdly deep with the tying run on 2nd? Kyle Lohse pinch-hitting for a pinch-hitter who never did anything, then laying down the ugliest best bunt ever?

Also, everyone involved in that game needs to order Tom Emanski's Defensive Drills. Fred McGriff and his levitating hat need to be on speed dial.

2011-10-28 01:12:02 PM
Also, given both manager's love of inexplicable intentional walks, I await Ron Washington intentionally walking David Or-Freese with the bases loaded.

Also, every batter will bunt.

What you need to worry about is Wash because he is making monumentally bad decisions right now.

After this postseason and the runup to it, I think we can just go ahead and throw out everything that's ever happened as any sort of guide.

*sigh* didn't watch all of game 6. Figured Rangers had it in the bag. Wake up and find out what I missed. >.This is it, both teams should put it all on the line tonight.

Your fiancee is a Cubs fan .... who was cheering for the Cardinals?

Let me guess, she owns more than one piece of Cubs apparel that is pink?

Nope. She owns zero pink Scrubs items.

I fell asleep somewhere in the 8th inning and woke up assuming it was over, the Rangers were the WS champs and I would have to go dirt bike shopping today.

Then the phone calls began. My husband, who said he might be able to get tickets for the game tonight, called first...I was half-awake and I had to tell him repeatedly that there was no game. Then mom called, all weepy, saying it was the best game she had seen in her lifetime, ad infinitum.

Curse you, reticular formation!!!

Bwhahahahahah! I called back when the series started. Cards lose in 7. The whole reason the Cardinals are in the series is because the players union needs Albert Pujols to have a great big World Series ahead of his contract negotiation and for him to set a new high on salary.

Meanwhile the MLB wants the Rangers to win.

Both sides want a game 7. Their are no real major league sports they are all just wrestling with better contracts.

It is all scripted, yes even game 6 last night, that is why both managers made baffling and insane decisions in game 5 & 6.

I don't think you come back from what happened last night. Cards pull this one out.

Ugh. I'm torn. I hate all sports teams from Dallas, and I hate the Cardinals.

I hate the Rangers a little bit less, but this World Series sucks.

/Brewers v. Tigers would be much better.

GO EXTRA INNINGS!

2011-10-28 01:53:47 PM
You would think that hitting a homerun was no big deal, the way the balls were flying out of the park last night.

Was kind of disappointed when they intentionally walked Pujols his last time up. Would have made for much better drama to have him be the payoff guy (or not).

I'm not entirely sure Holland will be available.

Did you take the Rangers +124 ML? That's like free money.

Regardless of who wins tonight, one thing is for certain: Josh Hamilton's sponsor will be very nervous.

Misplaced yat: Was kind of disappointed when they intentionally walked Pujols his last time up. Would have made for much better drama to have him be the payoff guy (or not).

It's worse than that. The Cardinals were down two, with a man on second. Ron Washington put the winning run on base intentionally, which is a small-c cardinal sin in baseball.

Worse, it's not like Pujols bats in front of Nick F'ing Punto. Lance Berkman hit .301/.412/.547 this year, and in the World Series he's been hot, hitting OH MY GOD MY EYES ARE BLEEDING. Plus, the pitcher (Scott Feldman) is a righty, so Ron Washington was actually giving up the platoon advantage he had vs. Pujols to pitch to a switch hitter (one who hits RHP better, to boot).

Thankfully, the mills of the baseball gods grind slowly, yet they grind exceeding small, and Ron Washington's heresy was punished. Let us not speak of that walk again.

Getting off work to go home and get WARMLY dressed for game 7. My daughter and I will be in Uecker seats!. I will be keeping a scorecard for the first time in ages and she is bringing a glove. What a souvenir a WS ball would be! To quote someone up the page, I am so excited I think I soiled myself.

Go Cards.. See you Farkers back in the chat in 10-12 hours!

The Rangers need Napoli to play because they are a better team with him.

WS stats
.158/.385/.211 - Holliday
.267/.421/.667 - Craig

The Cardinals need Holliday to stay hurt.

I am not sure Holland is available tonight. Being a starting pitcher I would be surprised if his arm can bounce back from the 2 innings last night.

I don't think it'll be about his arm handling it, I think it'll be more about how long it'll take him to warm up. I mean heck, took him what 3 innings last night?
