She was born in 1958. I doubt she still bleeds. Though I'm no expert on the subject.

Good thing she can afford healthcare.

After this thread from a few days ago (new window), I don't want to even think of
the colour blue in connection with bleeding ever again.

If you search the thread for the word 'blue' you will find some VERY clear advice.

FOLLOW IT.

I wish I had.

Having put in 30 years at the company and survived IBM's (IBM) near death experience in the early 1990s, Rometty literally bleeds blue.

This is literally the most abused word in the English language.

She could be any arthropod really. Or maybe a mollusk. Never trust a bivalve to run your company.

IBM's transition to a service-support based model have led them to tremendous growth. It's in trying to copy this kind of company (though not specifically IBM) that HP screwed itself.

Andorrian. She had her antennae amputated and uses sophisticated holographic technology to disguise her skin tone and butch lesbo haircut.

Right, because just like IBM, HP also appointed a 30 year veteran steeped in its culture, whose experience included leading one of its largest and most critical business units, chosen from among the CEO's direct reports generally considered the natural successors to the top job. And also just like IBM, HP executed a smooth and well-planned transition in leadership, retaining the expertise and experience of its prior CEO as Chairman of the board.

FTFY. But you are right about the last part.

Apparently this has really pissed off the folks trying to form an IBM US employee union, as she helped build the strategy that cut a lot of jobs at IBM in the US over the last several years.

Oh, the Lean Initiative? Yeah, it did cut a lot of jobs in the US... and moved them overseas. I saw lots of people leave. 100s. Some really really intelligent people, too.

They offered to relocate my friend to a former Soviet Bloc country. At greatly reduced pay. After 25 years of service. Would still have to travel to the US to work.

Which former Soviet bloc country? Because I visited Prague recently and was floored at the fact that a pint of really good beer was only 20kr (about $1)

That would cut my living expenses considerably. The only dealbreaker would be that it wasn't easy to get filtered coffee.

Georgia, IIRC.

Regardless, after 25 years you have things called roots. Kids in school. Ties to the community. A third of your lifespan to that company. It was a shiatty move.

How about making IBM how it was when Gerstner was in charge? It was good then, then he was out and they started cutting people with experience from Global Services, which cost them a shiat ton of revenue.

Well you pretty much have to be a blue-blood to get a position like that.

So, when she's fired, she's gonna be the next spokesperson for Always with Wings, since those are freaking AWESOME at soaking up blue liquid.
