The general consensus in that thread was that it was mangled because the submitter messed up a cut-and-paste job in the headline prior to submitting it. Looks like it would have been a pretty awful anyway, but this particular mess-up made it legendary, and a little in-joke here.

Same policy as reference checks with big corporations. If you care you need to find somebody who worked with him before to talk off the record. When hiring for a government job that's harder because more has to be in writing.

Hi honey. How was work? Well, you see, I don't have to go there anymore. I kinda of resigned. No. Not fired. That's different. Yep. I'm sure something will open up. No, I don't think I should apply to that private school. I'm kinda out of the teaching/teaching administration business.

Well, you know e-mail? Did you know that even after you write someone and they read it, it stays on a server, or a bunch of server, like forever? I didn't know that. I thought it was like regular mail. They get a copy, they read it and it's gone. You know how I like to joke around with the daughters? Well, I was doing that with some girls and guess I got carried away. Things were written and again, I thought that once you read an e-mail, it gets deleted. But no. No it doesn't. So a lot of stuff got written by yours truly and read by people for whom it was not intended and the short of it is this: You will get a lot of dirty looks when you go out in to public.

Anyhoo. In addition to losing the job, I have a couple of court orders saying that I can't go near a lot of people. Mostly teen girls but you know, I'd better just stay indoors for a while. Oh yeah. I'll probably be indicted so when the Sheriff comes by, you'll know why.

I think I'll go down to the study and start on that book I always wanted to write. But instead of it being a period piece set during the Civil War, I think I should write a self help book. Maybe call it "E-mail for Idiots" or something.
