his poor friend...he knows that the only time Cubs gear sees the world series is from the stands.

It is hard for me to feel bad for anyone who was at that game last night. I have to imagine even a Cubs fan would have enjoyed that even it was for a fleeting moment

Pretty classy move, actually.

Seriously, I imagine he got gentle ribbing from the Cardinals players but hell, you're getting teased by a damn team in the World Series! Good on him for being a good sport.

Who the blue hell wears a Cubs t-shirt to a Cardinals World Series game? Cripes dude at least put on a polo over it.

Eh, I've done similar things (Cards hat at a Royals game, etc) but at the World Series?

Still, classy move, dude. And that team-signed ball is going to be pretty valuable down the line, I'm guessing. Still, did he at least get tickets for Game 7?

Cut him some slack, the last time the Cubs were in a world series the proper attire for a baseball game was a coat and tie.

/and an onion on your belt.

First WS game I watched from start to finish in, well, I can't remember the last one ('01 game 7 maybe). Glad I picked a memorable one. I was joking to my wife that Freese was going to do something "cool" with his at-bat in the 9th. Lo and behold...

A quick negotiation ensued and Huyette agreed to trade the ball for a signed bat from Freese as well as a ball signed by the entire Cardinals team. Simple and fast.

He shoulda tried to get Freese's jersey instead of the bat. But the ball signed by the whole team was a great move.

It's St. Louis. If it were Philadelphia, he'd have had beer all over him by the fourth inning.

The lousy do-gooder is going to get killed by the IRS with gift tax.

My faith in humanity is restored. (Which means it's time to read a Florida-tagged story and have it demolished again.) The fan acknowledged he didn't need the money and that another party's happiness was more important than his own. Classy move, indeed.

Go-Fight-Win Cards!

The one they tore to shreds after he crossed home plate? Haha

Nah. We just went over this with Jeter's 3,000th hit. When Mark McGwire was about to hit the record setting home run ball, the IRS said that relinquishing the ball would be a non-event for tax purposes, similar to returning unsolicited gifts or prizes. Hence, no income tax for catching the ball and no gift tax for giving it back. The guy who caught Jeter's ball is being hit with an income tax bill because of all the swag he got back in return.

Yep. That jersey is INFAMOUS

The guy seems cool. His tackling of the home run ball was impressive. The advance planning showed.

Classy guy. I woulda asked for a signed ball and begged for two Standing Room Only tickets for game 7. :)

Thats right SRO, I'd be happy to just be in the stadium.

Douche: Thanks for the signed bat. Can I also get a picture of the whole team and signatures from every single person?

Freese: Haha, that's a good one.

Douche: No, I'm serious.

Freese: The fark? No man.

Cubs fan: Good game, man.

Freese: Thanks dude.

Douche: Can I get a picture of the three of us with the ball?

Freese: Fark, whatever, fine.

Douche: Whoa whoa, not a damn iPhone picture, an actual picture. And make sure to get me a print of this ASAP.

Freese: Alright, I'm outta here.

Douche: Okay cool, don't forget to get me those signatures.

Of course the doucher didn't do the right thing and give the ball to a kid after the game...

Kids really shouldn't be given hundred-dollar tickets to games that end at 1 am on a school night in 30 degree weather.
