A Dark Evil Omen: It's right-wing FUD.

the media eats FUD like it's candy. Accurate or not, it seems to be the narrative that's being pushed (once they decided they couldn't ignore it any longer)

Hurr. If he's so smart, how come he doesn't know he should run and hide when police officers tell him to?

Derp.

Old and busted: greedy, jobless socialists
New hotness: anti-Semitic plants from ACORN

Hmm, he works for a DoD contractor.

Makes pretty good money at it too.

The hippie talking point did take a major hit!

the hypocrite angle, not so much.

ACORN likes to rub caviar all over his taint so the greedy Wall Street barons can lick up all the anthrax mixed in with the caviar.

Shepherd said it's a cruel irony that Olsen is fighting for his life in the country that he fought to protect. "He was over there protecting the rights and freedoms of America and he comes home, exercises his "freedoms" and, it's here, where he's nearly fatally wounded," Shepherd said.

And conservatives fully support this. Remember this when they're crying about how Uncle Roy got spit on by a hippie.

halfof33: hypocrite

care to elaborate? Is he a wealthy bank executive or such?

2011-10-28 11:29:56 AM
So you are saying he's a hypocrite for pretending to be part of the 99% when in reality he is in the top 1%

2011-10-28 11:30:25 AM
But that talking point fits so perfectly into the right wing's whole portrayal of the the left! It can't be wrong, it fits too well! Why, if this part isn't true, it would make the whole narrative look contrived. AND WE CAN'T HAVE THAT.

lordaction: Take out "jobless" and the quote still stands.

I thought that according to the disciples of Ayn Rand and the devotes of the free market, greed is good. Capitalism is based on anyone trying to maximize their own profit, no matter what. If they don't they get outcompeted by those who do. You can't claim that it is not fair if poor people use socialism to maximize their own wealth. If outsourcing, speculating bribing politicians to change laws in your favor are valid methods than so are street protests. Come to think of violent revolutions might be valid means to. The fair market will see to it that those who hire the best security will outcompete those who fail to do so and are lynched by mobs.

2011-10-28 11:31:06 AM
And the best part is it's not just any job, he works for a defence contractor. The level of cognitive dissonance and spin is about to go up to 11.

/Glad to hear he's going to be ok.

HotWingConspiracy: And conservatives fully support this. Remember this when they're crying about how Uncle Roy got spit on by a hippie.

WTF are you talking about? The police noticed this brave veteran had been standing around all day and could use some relaxation, so they provided him a beanbag. In fact, they were so concerned for his well being that they launched one at him to maximize his rest time. Sadly, he had been hanging around so many pot smoking hippies that the poison weed had weakened the Marine's senses and caused him to fail to catch the beanbag, knocking him down.

The head injury was caused by the protestors noticing for the first time that he was wearing a military uniform (nobody ever said potheads were bright) and they went to show how anti-violence they were by curbstomping him. The brave policemen, acting as aegis and guard, tossed a flashbang into the crowd knowing that the strong constitution of a Marine could shrug it off, while the cowardly homeless slugs would run away immediately.

Lost Thought 00: So you are saying he's a hypocrite for pretending to be part of the 99% when in reality he is in the top 1%

All the DoD contractors on Fark would like to think they are in the 1%, but sadly I doubt the CEOs of Raytheon, Northrup Grumman and Lockheed spend much time on Fark.

The point wasn't to be Scientifically accurate, sir, it was to lay ridiculous claims at the feet of ACORN as per customary Fox News tradition.

I seriously want that to be remembered as the sh*ttiest thing said in an OWS thread to date. Possibly one of the most repugnant things I've ever read on this site. I plan to bring it up repeatedly.

It doesn't matter to anyone on the left who you work for. What matters is: C-M-C or M-C-M.

Uh no, he is a hypocrite for working for a defense contractor while protesting at night about "Corporations" influence with the Federal Government

2011-10-28 11:39:30 AM
An Iraq vet has his skull fractured by the police while peaceably protesting. If he were a teabagger there would be a federal investigation and everyone up the chain of command would have already lost their jobs and be excoriated in the media as monsters.

If you aren't sucking corporate dick you are a second-class citizen.

I don't even think cheese would sink as low as to to claim that the cops were "protecting him from an angry mob." That was Scerpes, and I don't care if he/she isn't here to defend it; that was pure sh*t and he/she deserves to be called out for it endlessly. Cheese, however, will sink so low as to imply that one lunatic making anti-Semitic comments represents the entire OWS movement, while the gainfully employed Iraq vet is a "token." And momentarily, cheese will deny doing any of that stuff.
