What is this, 1999? Am I watching Office Space? You're lucky to have a tech job, you whiny biatches.

Just because you're lucky to have a job doesn't mean you have to like it. There's more to life- and your job- than money.

What does Yahoo do? They don't even have a search engine.

Might have something to do with referring to employees as Yahoos

Yahoo still runs a ton of content properties that lots of people use (e.g. I always go to Yahoo Movies for the user reviews):

Yahoo Sports
Yahoo News
Yahoo Finance
Yahoo Movies

Also, lots of people using Yahoo Mail, and using Yahoo as their home page.

Yahoo! still has the highest traffic properties in a bunch of sectors - News, Sports, and Finance are among them. They're in the top 3 traffic getting sites in probably 20 different categories.

There are still a bunch of really smart people working there, and the company has always been pretty good about keeping people happy and worrying about things like work/life balance. All of the unhappiness tends to start with ineffective management, both mid- and executive level.

Of course, I quit last year, and many of the top notch engineers I worked with have also left over the last two years, so I'm not sure how long it'll stay that way...

I use yahoo for sports, only partially because Puck Daddy is probably the best hockey blog out there.

I signed up for a Yahoo email account when they were just a toddler of a company. I still have that account. I find it useful as an email account I can give away and not worry about spam since I use my gmail account for people I really want to hear from.

They're lucky to have a job like 91% of people. They should be so honored.
