and the GOP controls congress - outright in the house and by the tyranny of the minority in the senate. it's shaping up to be 1948 all over again for obama.

Useless since most will keep voting their congress critter back into office.

Yep. No matter who controls congress, EVERYONE always hates "Congress" but everyone loooooooooves them some pork, so you gotta make sure that your congressman has the seniority needed to get you pork.

Until it does NOT take millions of dollars and affairs with lobbyists to serve in public office, the halls of Congress will continue to be filled with all manner of scum and villany.

who farking cares?
congress does not represent you. your congressman represents you.

And yet the idea that the way our Congress is structured is broken is still an opinion basically no one espouses. It's all about personality, amiright?

I don't know why they don't specify what part of Congress they disapprove of? The Senate sucks, but the House is the cause of so much of all this...

Msol: I don't know why they don't specify what part of Congress they disapprove of? The Senate sucks, but the House is the cause of so much of all this...

It's actually the exact opposite.

So...the majority of people polled think Obama is clueless about growing jobs...but they think the Republicans in Congress are even MORE clueless.

What's a guy to do??

2011-10-27 04:11:24 PM
They are mad that Obama can't seem to get around congress. That's why people are disappointed.

And they hate what's going on in congress, but it never seems to be THEIR congress critter causing the problem.

John Adams: I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is called a disgrace; that two are called a law firm, and that three or more become a Congress! And by God, I have had this Congress! 1776

How odd, what with all the great bills being put forth by the lower body.

/golly, who controls that 1/2 branch?

"Do you think President Obama does or does not have a clear plan for creating jobs?"

No? What the fark has he been driving around the country pitching? What's all this shiat they've been voting on? What the fark, people?

It must really hurt Republicans when stuff like this comes out. It must make them regret saying things like "the American people want lower taxes for the ri... er... the job creators" or "the American people want to do away with NPR, PBS, and Planned Parenthood because they want to fark barebacked while watching Fox News".

Oh who the fark am I kidding.

Yeah, but how many like their individual Representative or Senator?

It's easy to dislike an amorphous organization made up of mostly people you didn't pick.

And yet at least 70% of incumbants will be re-elected, because they'll raise the most money and play the most TV commercials and be the familiar/recognizable "brand".

Maybe not

From an article in August

"Among them (independent voters) 65 percent say they want their own House representative tossed out in 2012, compared with 53 percent of respondents generally."Link (new window)

That was an 87% disapproval rate in that report.

FlashHarry: and the GOP controls congress - outright in the house and by the tyranny of the minority in the senate. it's shaping up to be 1948 all over again for obama.

There wasn't any "tyranny" in the Senate from January 2006 until January 2011, so why now?

If the Senate can't pass a "jobs bill" (according to 0bama) decide to take up discussion on a "jobs bill," with a democrat majority, I fail to see the "problem." Unless you mean that some of those democrat senators are trying to get re-elected, then yea, i can see why they are trying to cover their arses.

Because one party abuses procedural rules much more than the other.

farkityfarker: Is it possible that our current political process isn't working for the interests of the people?

Sure it is. If your interest is making Obama a one-term President. So we can return Washington to total Republican control. And relive the prosperity of the 2000's.

Oh Good Christ

I would say "No" but if the question had been does Obama "think" he has a plan for creating jobs, then I'd say "yes."

None of the crap either side are espousing is going to have the major systemic changes that our economy needs.

I honestly don't think term limits would solve anything, and might even make things worse by throwing in a ton of people that have no idea what they're doing at once.

I also don't think there should be term limits on presidents, either, so what do I know?

It's often said that people like their own Representatives, but hate everyone else. However, my personal take on Indiana politicians is that:

Senator Dan Coats (R) is an absolute stain on the State of Indiana.
Senator Richard Lugar (R) is pretty smart and doesn't always march lockstep with the party, but is too out-dated to be of much use in this Congress.
Rep. Andre Carson (D) [my Rep] is a clown who got elected on something other than intelligence.

I see your point but if my choice is unknown idiot over proven kleptocrat, I choose the unknown idiot.

And yet the vast majority of the disapproval stems from the rather childish grandstanding from the party that is supposedly no longer in power.

rtaylor92: None of the crap either side are espousing is going to have the major systemic changes that our economy needs.

That's because there is no "either side". Our President is pushing for a tax-cut based plan derived from a Ouija-board conversation with Reagan, then tilted a little further to the right. The only reason the GOP is against it is because it came from Obama, and their professed, #1 priority is to make Obama a 1-term President. Any improvement in the economy puts their #1 priority at risk.

This country is so completely and utterly farked. Our government can't even manage to sit there and do nothing; it correctly identifies the correct course of action and then does the exact opposite. No wonder approval is at 9%.
