I saw his interview on the O'Reilly Factor. He was blaming everybody but himself, which was followed up by 5 minutes of O'Reilly telling him that he's so articulate and is so good on television, he should run for VP.

They're trying to create another Mel Martinez. This punk isn't nearly talented enough to pull it off.

Fun fact: I was the best man in a wedding where the maid of honor happened to be his campaign manager. Suffice it to say we didn't get along.

"Soulmates," as a concept, does not only encompass sexual relationships.

That bad, huh?

Also, back on topic, my impression of Marco Rubio from the O'Reilly interview is that he's awfully glib - the perfect politician, constantly smiling white teeth at you while telling you how you're his bestest buddy.

Anyone can tell a fib. Like "that dress makes you look thin", or "the GOP platform builds on it's historic dedication to civil rights".

But damn, Rubio. If you're gonna make up a story, make it something we can't actually check. Dumbass.

You know, about 25 years ago, there was another gay man who didn't think opposites attract and that a woman could never be his soul mate. His name was MC Scat Cat. And I'm proud to call him my father.

I never much cared for him because he beat up Charlie Crist during the Senate race for things that happened while Rubio was the speaker of the Florida House. Never much understood how you beat up the governor for legislation that passed on your watch. Not that I have much use for Charlie either, but Rubio got to reinvent himself and nobody called him on it.

Faux outrage! Give me a break. He was talking about stories told to him 2nd hand. If some of the details are wrong, who cares. He didn't get elected because his mom only spent 1 month in Cuba and not 9. There are plenty of actual things to not like the guy for.

Lying about your family history in order to build political cred doesn't violate your ethical code?

Now, if its just a case of he learned this stuff as a kid and his gramps embellished to him and he never questioned it, then that is different, and I can't really fault him for that.

I have no idea if he was actually lying or not. He was definitely wrong about his history, but whether it's by malfeasance or misfeasance, I have no idea. I do know, however, that there's a ton of other shiat I don't like about him.

Crist is no better. They are both political opportunists. Crist went from conservative to moderate over night when he dropped out of the Republican primary.

I would give him a pass if the story had nothing to do with politics. The thing here is that this was probably a calculated lie since if you are a Cuban, when you left Cuba is very relevant to the population there since it usually means you are pro or anti Castro.

Also it not about dates, its about whole years as well.

I'd rather have a politically expedient moderate rather than a doctrinally immovable ultra-conservative or ultra-liberal.

I think you'd agree.

Or to say better, the difference is Crist picked the wrong horse. He sucked up to Obama during the post 2008 election period right before the Tea Party took off. Rubio jumped on the Tea party horse when it was at full swing. It easily could have gone the other way.

Well, if Marco Rubio decide to make any moves towards the moderate side, maybe I'll reassess. However, for now, he hasn't, so my preliminary assessment of him stands.

When it comes to Cuban exiles, the details mean quite a bit. I never said he got elected because of these dates, but these dates are used to portray a certain image of Rubio's family, as well as the man himself as a candidate and as a person.

I doubt a guy who is running around in an FDNY 9/11 shirt telling everyone he escaped WTC2 Just in time to watch him lose his brothers would get a pass if it was found out that he really had been fired a year before and watched his brothers die by turning on CNN.
