I made the mistake of beating my wife's ass in Monopoly the first time we played. She became convinced that my 12 year old daughter and I were were conspiring to knock her out of the game because she wasn't doing so well. She then stormed off and slammed the door.

Best way to play monopoly:

No 1's or 5's.
Each person has a dedicated player to their direct left to handle cash transactions for proper accounting.
When you land in jail you get to roll again, if you get doubles you're automatically out.

=45 minutes or less games.

Well, you farking played it wrong. BurnShrike hit the Monopoly Jail Strategy right on the head.

It quite specifically states in the rules that you CAN collect rent in jail, so I've really never understood why so many people think that you can't.

You cannot collect rent on a property that is currently mortgaged, and that is the only time you cannot collect rent.

Yeah, it does explicitly say that you can collect money while in jail. I've played with more than a few people who use the house rule that you can't though.

This kind of reminds me of the time when I once killed a man over a disputed word in Scrabble. But my blood lust was not sated! I went on a violent killing spree, hunting down, murdering then feasting upon the entrails of all known descendants of The Parker Brothers. I felt kind of bad for my victims after I found out that Scrabble was manufactured by Mattel, INC. :(

My family used to play Monopoly all the time, only game my father would play (big baby!) and we pretty much just competed for second place, since the old man always won. We finally ended up with a game where my mom won (we didn't even team up on dad) so my sister and I made a plaque and cake for her and everything... yeah, dad refused to play ever again after that. Heh.

None of my friends will play games with me, unless they involve dice. If they involve dice, I will lose every freaking time!!!
