(NASA) Cool I hate to put cool and Thailand's flooding together, but this is a pretty amazing image from NASA's Terra Spacecraft   (nasa.gov) divider line 15

If serious, "In this image, vegetation is displayed in red." If not, serious go with H31N0US's Sriracha answer; that shiat is delicious.

Fark sensitivity rears its ugly head. Sometimes I am proud of this site, this is not one of those times. IT IS NOT COOL.

I wish the National Aeronautics and Space Administration would pick ONE logo and STICK with it. Honestly, it's like Ford in the 1970s when you had sans serif "FORD" along with the old oval on the dealer signs.

I prefer something updated.

Fark is notoriously horrid when it comes to natural disasters in foreign lands. I remember the cyclone hitting Myanmar as a shining example of Fark's humanity. Oh, I'm sorry, farkers were just using humor to help them cope with the situation.

As an aside, price gouging on hard drives due to the shut down of Western Digital's fab unit in Thailand has begun. 1TB hard drives have jumped from ~$65 to ~$129. The problem is that stocks have not even been affected yet, so this is just pure grubbing on the part of distributors.

Pretty much this. My store ordered a bunch of drives from LaCie a week ago. The order just got cancelled due to "internal matters" and now we're scrambling to get stock before prices get too crazy

Hitachi is hurting too. I think Seagate was the only one that didn't get hammered

Seagate has a major factory in Thailand but it is untouched as it is about 200m above sea level, the other Thai HD factories are all on low land near the river and completely swamped.

This. I was pricing out drives for a new NAS, and 3TB drives went from ~$180 to $300 in 36 hours. Good thing I got them before prices went too much higher, we're almost out of space on our old 2TB array as it is, and we probably couldn't wait 6 months for prices to stabilize again.
