Polamalu: $10k for calling his wife during the game
Robinson: $20k for a groin kick
Schwartz - Harbaugh getting into a heated, on-field argument on national tv?: Priceless.

Goddell has a wheel of fortune wheel in his office that he spins to decide these matters. I thought everyone knew this.

What is he, 5? That fine is way too low. The minimum should have been $50,000. Plus he doesn't even get thrown out of the game? WTF?

No he doesn't, because there would be 1/2 a KIA involved.

What needs to happen is some consistency in the ejections that officials pursue. It is absolutely ridiculous. Andre Johnson tore off a guy's helmet and punched him repeatedly in the face (though he deserved it), and was not ejected. Several physical altercations this year that have been punches or kicks have been penalized, but there have been no ejections. And then Red Bryant taps an opposing player (who was wearing his helmet) with his own helmet, and it is INSTANT EJECTION! The rule should be: throw a punch or kick someone purposefully, you're out for this week and the next, and you won't get paid those weeks.

/yes it is a violent sport
//still no reason to punch each other

You have to understand that there's nothing that Goddell hates more than a good defensive player so if he gets the chance to stick it to a guy like Polamalu, he will do it. Robison, on the other hand, is an okay defensive player, but not a household name thus Goddell doesn't have the same hate for him as he would have for, lets say, Ndamukong or Harrison.

The NFL recently moved their HQ into the building where I work. I'd say I'd try to go see, but they may have Terry Tate, Office Linebacker as the security system on their floor.

That's a good point. In Goodell's world, every game would be 42-35 and quarterbacks would never get touched. He thinks defense is outdated.

I think we can honestly agree that the game is now sufficiently worse with the plethora of helmet-helmet penalties called solely for protecting the ref's arse. In addition, how the farking hell is a corner, linebacker or safety supposed to tackle!? I thought it was bad last season when they changed it week 6 iirc, but now there's zounds of penalties for form tackles.

I read that as "...in the goebbels" which sort of changes the context.

I'm a bit surprised that Goddell hasn't fined Bernard Pollard for tackling a receiver without asking for permission first.

That one guy on Monday Night got kicked out and that was for barely shoving the other guy in the helmet.

This guy kicks the other man in the 'nads and gets a 20k fine and no ejection? Craziness.

jake3988: That one guy on Monday Night got kicked out and that was for barely shoving the other guy in the helmet.

The Monday Night game was one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. At least they were balanced on their crappy calls instead of favoring one team or the other. Ravens offensive tackle clearly holding on a pass play? We won't call that. Clean shoulder to chest tackle? That obviously was helmet to helmet on a defenseless receiver.

The horrible play by both offenses overshadowed how poorly officiated the game was. For the most part the bad calls/non-calls favored the offense.

Players' 'nads are better protected than their upper spine, perhaps? (Just a guess)

This. There were a ton of missed calls, and a ton of wrong calls. As a Ravens fan I've been kind of mum on this, because we played so terrible I'm not sure if it would have made a difference, but good lord, that was just bad. 4 successfully challenged plays shouldn't happen in a game. All of those refs should be sent down to the high school level.

Before I read TFA, I was guessing it was about CJ Wilson & how he's pitching his price down this post-season.

So, the going rate is $10,000 per testicle, huh?

You were obviously saved from the trauma of the Seahawks/Browns game. Not only was the play crappy, but the officials basically decided to mail it in. They penalized Seattle for a block in the back that was non-existent, among several other calls. And then they throw out Red Bryant for basically getting in the face of a Brown. Absolutely godawful. Seattle probably would have won by at least seven or ten points if the officials had called the game somewhat correctly. I'm not expecting perfection, and, yes, they will get calls wrong, but at least a passing familiarity with the rulebook would be helpful.

That Packer player should have ripped off his helmet and started beating the shiat out of the Vikings player with it. I mean, put him into a coma.

Yes, I absolutely mean that.

Imagine if they played on a grass field with long spikes.

I think the appropriate punishment is that if you kick a dude there from on the ground, he gets to stomp on yours, no penalties, no fines.
