The 41-year-old man who attacked Mr Hamilton has been cautioned for assault but no further action will be taken against him.

I probably read too much daily fail, but I get the feeling if I randomly knock soeone out in th eUK I will get a slap on the wrist, however if I attack someone who breaks into my house I will face the full force of the law.

Well, naturally, hospitality is of the utmost concern. Zeus would approve.

proteus_b: i guess he wasn't strapped down very well in the first place

These. I'm a lowly EMR (the 40-hour training, formerly First Responder) but on my watch, if it looks like somebody has a head injury, they're getting a C-spine collar and a backboard, strapped down securely, then all that is getting strapped down securely again to the gurney, and they're not going anywhere 'til I hand them off to somebody at least as qualified than me.

My only guess is that the guy was unconscious and had clearly been drinking, so they put him in some kind of rescue position in case he barfed so he wouldn't aspirate. But that's a tricky call here.
