I liked Young Einstein. Now if you'll excuse me subby I am going to go split some beer atoms.

/emck?

And what Mel Brooks did to young Frankenstein?

Not sure if Serious.

Every time I see David Goyer, he's the "writer of Batman Begins." He's been involved with so much shiat (flashforward, blade the series, hasselhoff nick fury), that I have a hard time believing he contributed anything worthwhile to the movie.

Still have my CD of the Yahoo Serious soundtrack ... I liked that flick ... but I went to his website, which is, well, bizarre.

Now, down to business: This could easily descend into PastaPunk Borgias., and if it comes across as some stentorious Vegas-like History Channel drivel, then they've lost me.

I like to believe that wherever Einstein is, he thinks Young Einstein and IQ were probably better depictions of him than any "serious" documentaries.

TFA sucks because National Treasure and Davinci Code were fun movies.

subby sucks because Young Einstien was farking funny.

Gareth Edwards is doing another GODZILLA?

Yikes.

that doesn't sound like a feel good comedy with massively wrong scientific discovery. that doesn't sound like a feel good comedy with massively wrong scientific discovery at all

I'm so excited that Young Einstein is getting some Fark love. I have loved that movie since I was little. It's weird, but funny, and everyone I have shown it to has found it equally funny. Several months ago, I showed it to a room full of engineers for the first time...it was a high pressure situation as they all work with my hubby. Luckily for me, they all loved it.

but yes young Einstein was my favorite movie as a kid

This thread has too much Young Einstein and not enough Ezio Auditore.

When Yahoo became popular as a search engine and free email source, Yahoo Serious sued them.

Young Sherlock Holmes will get to the bottom of this...

DjangoStonereaver: Gareth Edwards is doing another GODZILLA?

Yikes.

Why yikes? It might even be better than the 1998 Godzilla film, which was a damn good kaiju film saddled with the unfortunate baggage of the name "Godzilla". Certainly, it was better than all but a small handful of Toho's Godzilla films. I think the main problem with the 1998 film was that the name scared off people who weren't fans of the rubber suit Godzilla films, and the people who *WERE* fans of those movies were largely put off because Gojira didn't look like Gojira to them.

I grew up on those films (and Gamera films, and the Ultraman and "Johnny Sokko" series), and I actually enjoyed the 1998 Godzilla. A lot.

If only subby were right. Young Leonardo has some potential as a real comedy, but this guy is just doing drama.

I mean, it's for Starz. That's the network your movie winds up on when no one else wants it.

I have perfectly fond childhood memories of watching Young Einstein. I will not ruin the idea that Young Einstein is a funny movie by watching it again and possibly discovering that it's not.

The 'Yikes' is one of ambivalence.

On the bad side: it would be a non-Toho film, which doesn't bode well in my mind.

However: MONSTERS looks interesting (I read up on it, having only barely heard of
it before), and given how badly Toho felt they got burned on the Emmerich GODZILLA
(and, sorry dits, I have to disagree on you on the quality of it), I guess the
fact that they would even consider letting an outsider do another one is probably a
testament to how much faith they have in him.

Well, I didn't say it was great art, but it is a very fun movie to watch, and I stand by the assertion that it is better than all but a very small fraction of the Toho Godzilla films. The only real problem with it is that Godzilla doesn't look like Godzilla.

Remember, I'm judging it compared to it's peers, other giant monster movies.

/If you haven't seen it, watch Gamera 3: Awakening of Irys. *WAY* better than that orange and blue staccato crap-fest that was "Godzilla: Final Wars".

Monsters was pretty good, considering the budget and the circumstances under which it was made. The dialogue seemed a bit odd at times, which is probably a result of the degree to which it was improv'd.

-shrug-

It seemed too much like JURASSIC KAIJU to me, but to your taste.

I liked GODZILLA: FINAL WARS, but not for the reasons Toho would prefer I liked it...

I loved the first GAMERA remake, so I'll have to give it a try.

Speaking of monster movies, any opinions on Trollhunter? Haven't seen it yet, is it worth renting?

I Don't know. This premise sounds somewhat promising. We truly are living in the Golden Age of Cable television.

young einstein was delightfully silly - but it did introduce me to paul kelly and the coloured girls' "dumb things," which is a brilliant song.

True Fact: Two weeks ago, I was in the town of Vinci, Leonardo's boyhood home. We had rented a villa in a nearby Tuscan village, and it was an easy drive over. It's actually a pretty nice town.

The museum there has fully assembled scale models of dozens of his inventions, designs, innovations, etc. Anyone with an engineering background will never want to leave the place.

I thought Anakin wiped out the entire Tuscan village singlehandedly.

I've always been in awe of Da Vinci and have been to a couple of similar exhibits full of working scale models. That said, the bicycle that is sometimes credited to him (allegedly discovered in 1974) that I saw at one of these exhibits is clearly bogus. Tanks, planes, helicopters, lifting devices, tanks, submarines, gears, etc., yes. Bicycle, no.

I'll watch it if they include the Fightin' Genius Time Commandos.

yes yes yes yes YES YES YES YES!!! SUCH an awesome movie!! (on Netflix Instant if you have it)

Ahem... back to business.
They will butcher this series, I know they will. But I shall watch it, because I love the Da'Vinci... and yes, in that way...
