Greatest band in the history of rock and roll. Yeah.

2011-10-26 07:31:43 PM
Don't tell that to Jann Wenner.

Like them or not, they sure do get a lot of sound out of three players.

Amusing, but I like the Rush in Rio version more. I think that's a better quality and better mixed version.

I got to see the last show of this tour at The Gorge. That band at that place was just a stunning combination.

Except the video. It's in low-definition thanks to Neil. He didn't want big cameras around him so they used small, non-high def cameras. The result was all of the footage was high def except shots of him. So they had to go lowest common denominator. Geddy's brother was the video editor and talked about it. It sucks because RiR had the most amazing audience ever but the video stinks.

They didn't seem to care. That had to be one of the most fired up audiences of all time.

Godscrack: Greatest band in the history of rock and roll. Yeah.

I had a college suitemate who would blast Rush about 5 hours a day. To this day, it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. I decided somewhere in there that if a mosquito ever learned to speak, it'd sound just like Geddy Lee.

Anyway, just a little back-story so you don't take it too personally when I adamantly inform you that Rush sucks. Really, really sucks.

/their fans are worse
//though I do admire Rush's staying power -- it can't be easy standing in a room with that screeching bug-man for decades

Same thing on megadeths south america DVD. The entire crowd sings along with every single riff of every song. I'd love to see a show down there someday, people obviously appreciate music down there.

Maybe not THE best but top 5 for sure.

Blink... obviously not a musician and more than likely a techno fan. You see bands used to actually WRITE and PLAY music and not sing to drum machines or samples of others music. I am serious they actually used to write their own stuff AND play it themselves.
And who cares if Alex is a born again? Really? THIS is one of the reasons you don't like them? really?? lol
Rush is a musicians band. talent / innovation / staying power. 2112 one the best EVER!

OH HELL YES!

Helix was a wicked concert. Fark, I sold a lot of dope at that concert. I mean, they had good lyrics like, "Gimme a R-O-C-K", and the crowd yells "ROCK" really loud. Now that's a farkin' concert!

They sang 'nah-na-nah-na-nah' to the notes. Their voices rise and fall along with the notes.

Ever since that video came out, American audiences have taken to singing along to YYZ as well. I've seen it twice.

Sorry but Lil Rush is a way better intro.

Modern day warrior named Tom Sawyer
He floated down a river on a raft with a black guy!

I met them once. I didn't even know who they were.

Geddy Lee... you are the weakest link, goodbye. Sorry, but his vocals are ugggg in some parts. But otherwise, great tunes.

Phew, I wasn't a born again Christian in college, so it wasn't me, good. I did play a lot of Rush.

I thought that Blink was referringto Alex being a christian and I had misread that in his post. My bad. Sorry but I am loyal to my Rush and usually when someone cries about the vocals or how bad they are it always impresses me as to who they think are great musicians and it turns out to be J Lo or eminem or coldplay or someone to that nature.

I never really got into them, back in the days of Joe and Lou on KMAC/KISS, but they've grown on me. Now the kids have all their albums.

There is nothing harder in this world than creating new ideas for Arena Rock.

Try it sometime..You will fail.

This was nice. Not great, but nice.

Nice.

Alex Lifeson's camel toe on the back of the 2112 album is the greatest moment in Canadian rock history.

A bit odd to find this on a Rolling Stone site.

Historically they've always thought of themselves as too hip for Rush. Kinda wish they'd picked a different song for the video (like say, The Camera Eye which was the song that had everyone excited about the Time Machine Tour)

I've seen Rush twice in concert. Super boring. They play just like record and have little stage presence. Great band though.

Neil is clearly not comfortable on camera. You can see it in his "guitar playing" and the fact he only has one line, while Geddy carries it. Took me a few before I realized it was him as the Andy Warhol-ish character.

/loved the shots of the air drumming

At a Rush show, it's about the music. If you wanted a freak wearing a meat dress, you'd be in the wrong place.

Went to the theater release of the concert last night. Totally hit the spot. Told my ladyfriend she would probably be the only female there. I was wrong, there was one more. Fifteen people in all, two of them ladies - told her she could have the pick of any nerd there, but the entertaining would have to be at her place - Simply because the nerd's mom may not appreciate a lady visitor past 10 p.m.

Cleveland is where they first broke through on American rock radio.

Interesting that this was shot in Cleveland. I hope they played loud enough for the Hall of Fame to hear them.

Spirit of Radio and Red Barchetta for the win.

It is to me a crime that this group isnt in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. When you look at some of the farking jokes that do get inducted, its hard to make the case for excluding Rush...
