That's the blunt way of viewing it. The fact is, the poor play the lottery much more than people of means. Right now, I don't think the country needs to have more money flowing out of the hands of the poor, even if it's done voluntarily. It only helps to perpetuate the cycle of helplessness. I don't necessarily advocate outlawing lotteries, but I can't help but feel on a gut level that it's not a good thing for society and that there aren't enough voices speaking out against it.
