Man, that slideshow was, without a doubt, the worst thing in the whole world. I am pretty sure it gave me PTSD.

I have seen him on Food Network carving. It is awesome to see him work. He makes it look so easy.

You lost me at "sideshow"..

I've been doing an underwater pumpkin-carving contest for a few years now. We strap on SCUBA gear and hack the crap out of some pumpkins. The money goes to a local children's hospital.

Last year I made an octopus. It wasn't bad, it was good underwater.

When I put it in the bag and brought it up to the surface, it fell apart and I basically entered a mangled pile of gourd.

I got 4th prize, worst attempt.

300 day ban + 12 free air fills.

I like the green light :) Makes it look just and extra bit more evil than regularly lit pumpkins ;) Nicely done!

Personally I think that what Ray does is a bastardization of the fine art of Pumpkin Carving.

What he is doing is Pumpkin sculpting. It's a totally different thing!

You have to carve through the pumpkin, you have to use a knife (or a coping saw blade). You do not use scoops or Dremel tools or anything else.

I use a Henkel steak knife and a Big Spoon. Occasionally I will use a drill, but that's it! And toothpicks for holding up ears and eye irises.

Just carved my first ever pumpkin. Really pleased with it. Will see if I can get a pic up.
