Lexus and Porsche are both good dancers, but I usually go with Outback for the private stuff.

Everyone I know who has one swears it feels just like being in a top of the line luxury car that you don't have to pay a fortune for. It has all the same amenities, so it's not like you're scrimping.

I once met a girl named Lexus Coupe Alexandra Dupree Robinson. She was 9 years old....I can only imagine where she is now.

Nah economy is being hit hard, Kia and Hyundai are now the best strippers your going to see. Maybe a Toyota if you live in Atalanta.

Available SH-AWD (the SH stands for super-handling, which it is).

To me, Lexus is the dullest of dull. BMWs, Audis, even MBs are sporty and fun to drive.

Lexus is nothing more than a gussied up Toyota, which I'd never own anyways. I've driven GS430's etc. While they are quiet, comfortable and well appointed; they make me want to fall asleep at the wheel.

This. I drive a '96, the first year it was TL and not a Vigor, and it is still the most comfortable car I have ever driven.

When I was in college. One of my frat bro's was dating a girl who started stripping at one of the local clubs for extra booze money. She chose Lexus as her stage name and went to get the Lexus emblem tattooed on her ass. Unfortunately, she was incredibly stupid and got a Chrysler one instead.

It popped up on Autoblog or something for a story about BMW making their first FWD car for 2013 or something. I put it on a coworkers desktop, he bought one of the new VW Rabbits. We had a good laugh about it.

Yes, but now her ass is probably as big as a minivan, so it fits her now.

I never completely got in synch with the ride of a Lexus. It's kind of cushy and "drifty" like a Mercedes. I like a tighter feel like the Infiniti and BMW lines.

When I was shopping in 2008 I looked at the IS250. $44,000 for the options I wanted and it had an anemic engine and "meh" handling. Ended up with a fully loaded G37 coupe for less than that.

I'm always amused when a reviewer starts listing luxury brands and leaves out Infiniti.

You think Lexus is just a gussied up Toyota, but that Acura is somehow more than a gussied up Honda? I would rather drive a loaded up V6 Accord than a TL, since it's nearly the same rid for gazillions of dollars less.

Lexus should stick to making bland versions of Buicks, sports cars are just not something they get.

No, I was just correcting what he said about the TL being FWD.

To tell you the truth, I think all Jap luxo cars suck. No personallity, no emotion.

Same can be said for Jap sportscars. Sure the Nissan GTR is fast, but it's like driving a machine invented for retards who can't drive.

I'm one of the last of a dying breed who thinks that a car who challenges you when u drive it hard/fast is a good quality.

Though the majority of the population sucks ass at driving and car control, so I'm not shocked.

I'm with you on that but,

fatalvenom: Same can be said for Jap sportscars.

Jap sportscars are usually utilitarian vehicles with factory go-fast bits in them, perfect for the family man who doesn't want to grow up or the kid who can't afford a good BMW, Audi, Corvette, Challenger, etc.

I'm a little biased here (see profile).

Sorry, it's a funny pic. It doesn't get enough use around here.

I like the WRX/EVOs of the world. They aren't my cup of tea for sure, but I see the fun in them.

Not every great car has to have RWD and a V8. Although that's what I like. My GF's father's SHO is a great car to drive. Especially after he got a tune, exhaust, intake etc.

The argument was about luxury cars, and IMHO, the Jap cars don't fit into that category no matter how hard they try. Same can be said for Caddy (although they've made fantastic strides, and I love the CTS-V), Lincoln etc. If your company's luxury division is a tarted-up subsidary of your basic nameplate, it's shiat.

Jags, Martins, Rollers, Rovers etc.. Those are luxury cars. Everything else is just an overpriced "I'm trying to be a baller/keep up with my neighbors" douche-mobile.

/BTW, don't ever include the Challenger in the same sentence as BMW, Audi, Vette etc. At least the new 5.0 Mustang GT can keep-up/beat the M3.

Yea, but in terms of actually having the car on the road and not in the shop, I would go with the much more reliable Lexus. Never had an MB, but had the other two germans and a lexus. I could drive that lexus to hell and back with no problem.

2011-10-27 12:04:51 AM
Yes, the kids have taken over the WRX and are making it the new Civic :p I almost want to get rid of it for that fact alone, but there isn't much out there in a wagon that can also be fun on the track. Speaking of track time I have never actually seen a Challenger at the track yet.

I am totally onboard with your luxury evaluation, go big or go home.
