Time to go home and enjoy retirement again. Hope the money you made this year offsets the concussion if it is that serious.

I love they're placing Collins on IR, but not Manning. Is it just Polian not able to let go, or is he just intentionally messing with fantasy owners who might be in "pay per transaction" leagues?

2011-10-26 10:46:43 AM
Colt's problem? They don't have Tim Tebow. They should say "fark it," and just trade their first rounder to the Broncos right now.... though no way Denver is stupid enough to accept. Tebow is the future of the NFL.

Have they gotten down to Jim Sorgi yet?

Whatever happened to him, anyway?

If Manning makes it back with 2-3 games to go he could literally be playing for his job.

Interesting to see if that happens... I'm doubtful we'll see Manning in a Colts uniform ever again.

jayhawk88: I love they're placing Collins on IR, but not Manning.

It is odd. I had thought that the reasoning for not placing Manning on IR was to save money: Peyton to IR means the Colts would have to fill that roster spot and effectively sink even more dead money into Manning's contract.

Then again, Manning keeps saying that he wants to come back. Maybe Collins is the driving force here, deciding that there is so little upside to playing for this Colts team that they can go fark themselves, he's done.

He's still Manning's backup.

Eli, not Peyton, though.

I think he's a free agent now. He only got a 1-year deal.

By keeping Manning off the IR he can sit in the booth and be the offensive coordinator (a job he's held on-field the past 10 years).

I believe there is some sort of NFL rule that basically states a player on IR can't be anywhere near the team during games.

Looks more like the fatter Wayans brother when they starred in "White Chicks".

So, I was curious to see who Painter's backup QB is now (hoping it was the Round Mound of Touchdown, but no dice). Though their actual next-in-line is still funny:

I'm really thinking Collins in being put on IR to help him save face...I highly doubt his concussion was serious enough to knock him out for the year, but he was so ineffective running the offense I think they made the move to avoid 'admitting' it was a mistake bringing him in.

What's bad is that his hair looks better in that picture than it did last time I saw him in person. He was at Triple XXX eating breakfast one saturday looking hungover as hell and had some really greasy hair.

And there I was in the front row at Harrah's Cherokee Casino when after it was announced the set was cancelled because Kurt was nowhere to be found, a drunken Courtney Love knocked out the new tour drummer with a thrown bottle of Dark Eyes brand vodka.

that's the kind of subtle, but spot on detail, that tells me you've done your homework. A+.

/and somewhere, Krist Novoselic would simultaneously be touring as "Nirvana Revisited", while a lawsuit over who actually owned the name "Nirvana" wends its way through the courts

Collins has been around a long time. The shots begin to add up. It starts taking less trauma to have a concussion, and longer and longer to return to "normal". It's probably one of those "message from god" things, that maybe Collins shouldn't have gotten greedy and tried to come back.

Are we talking about the Battleship Lorenzen?

Here's the thing...

The other brother Cooper (the superior athlete of the three) stopped playing ball in college because of a similar degenerative bone condition. Eli also shows early stages of this condition.

If Peyton has had THREE neck procedures in the last 18 months on that neck, it is highly possible he's done playing, no matter what he 'wants'. All the willpower in the world (which he has and then some) can't overcome this type of condition/injury.

The current kerfluffle over IR or not to IR is about two things: 1) Finding out as early as possible that Peyton is either good to go for next year or done permanently, and while we're at it (2) saving $20 million.

They IR him, they don't know until April if he plays in 2012 and they're out $20 more million. If they don't IR him, they can find an indication in December/January, giving them four more months.

Peyton's willpower at almost an afterthought at this point. If he can't recouperate by January and show progress, he won't be ready for April. Cut losses at that point and move on.

good point...i was about to say "I don't recall Collins being out with a concussion before" when I remembered the league really only started cracking down on concussions last year. He's probably been concussed a dozen times already.

It really doesn't matter if Manning comes back, or if they draft Luck. As long as the front office and coaching staff are still there, they're doomed to fail in spectacular fashion.

I think your picture sums up the Detroit offensive line quite well tho. An untouched pass rusher on a passing play, while one of the DTs gets double teamed. *sigh*. I feel for Matt Stafford.

Man, it realy is too bad that Delhomme had The Bad Day. I liked him as a QB, in no small part because Super Bowl XXXVIII was my first and one of the best, and then he did bad enough to be remembered for The Jake.

If the Colts are really nice, they might be able to talk the Vikings out of Donovan McNabb. Maybe give us a first round pick, plus a cornerback or two.
