I better stay out out of Missouri. I fall into three of the five bullet points there...

/No I wont say which ones.

"Say...you ain't from' round here, is ya, boy? You got a mighty pretty mouth though, yessir."

Note to Anglers

If you snag a zombie, CUT THE LINE!

Well, that's the first time I've read that piece of advice.

Completely old and busted, but I like it when a govt agency can laugh at itself.

What's the bag limit? If I kill a partial zombie (missing two or more limbs) does that only count as 1/2?

Oh come on, I'm sure the $40 they paid some intern to do this has been well worth the laughs. Get over yourself.

Why all the biatching? There were at least three links to follow that covered real conservation issues. I found that an amusing way to help get people interested in what would otherwise be a very dry read - if they even bothered looking at all. It was funny, and it was also informative. Haters can't think more than one step ahead, which is why we cannot have nice things.

Nicely done.

The MDC is funded mostly by permit sales and grants. You can get tons off free stuff each month from MDC,like Missouri Outdoors magazine, kids outdoors ect. They are probably the best conservation agency in the US

This. If you don't buy a hunting or fishing license in MO, you didn't pay for it. At the federal level, unless you bought archery or shooting supplies, you probably didn't contribute to it federally, either, because of Pittman-Robertson.

Most people don't realize that there is an 11% federal excise tax on guns, bows, arrows, bullets, etc. that helps pay for federal conservation.

If there is one group of people out there using natural resources that pays their fair share, and more, it's hunters. They are the ones responsible for preserving more land in it's wild state than any other population.

In case anyone was actually serious about this being a waste of money, this is a very effective copywriting tool to make sure readers remember your content, and maybe even share it. Sure they could have saved 20 minutes at $10 an hour to not write anything about zombies, but as of this moment at least 2800 people have read the MDC's website now and some will even remember it, and most/all of us would have probably never even experienced the site without this post.

Exactly. I thought it was great how they interjected actual info in the "article", and it's in the spirit of fun. Bravo, Missouri peoples!

It might get some Missouri resident interested in actual hunting or fishing, and it might also bring eyeballs from people who want to hunt a different state, but wouldn't think "Missouri" as a hunting destination. Just a couple extra out-of-state licenses sold would have paid for the time it took to write that page.

Wrong!

There are no mountain lions in Missouri.

Unless you are referring to cougars.

The best job I ever had was with the MDC : Friday fish frys in the parking lot and liberal days off during hunting season. Good ole boys with higher educations are awesome.

Zombies are by weight.

In Missouri, we have a 1/8 of 1% sales tax that goes to the Missouri Department of Conservation. I don't know if other states have similar taxes, but if they don't, they should.

That hardly seems fair, what if they had recently gorged themselves on the delicious flesh of the living? Or are we only counting post gutting weights?

If you worth to your employer is measured in hours worked rather then work preformed then maybe you should reevaluate your job/skills.

Okay, that was awesome. I loved how they incorporated basic safety information in a new, interesting format.

Honestly, I'm kind of liking how some folks are getting this zombie thing and doing good with it.

That's true here in Michigan, too. The biggest conservationists are serious hunters. Sure, there's some frat-boy assholes out there, but the hunters I've met are about 3 times more careful about the wilderness than I am.

You know we are talking about Missouri here. I bet Franklin and Jefferson counties gonna have some dead "Meth Heads" because of confused hunters.
