Came to say the same thing. Had he cornered a girl in the restroom and had his buddies guard the door while he had his way with her, then he's Steelers material. If he tossed his ex out of a moving car so it killed her, he's Raven's material. As it stands, on the field violence makes him either a Titan (Haynesworth) or a Raider (pretty much any lineman, ever).

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, here. First the kid's got an upcoming stint at Michigan State.

Not anymore, that's a criminal matter.

It's a slow news day when a neighborhood altercation makes the paper.

Tomorrow there will be a story about some kid falling out of a tree and breaking his arm.

Criminal charges? I say good for him for standing up to the jerk.

If the 14 year old was my kid, I'd ask him what he said.

Then I'd ask him how he let himself be body slammed.

I don't think I'd file a police report so much as poke fun at my boy for not watching out his own ass in the hopes he learned a valuable lesson.

It's just a little rupture. These things happen in contact sports like football and wrestling.

2011-10-25 06:15:57 PM
Wait, you harass a kid two years younger than yourself until he shuts you up with a standard football tackle -- and you file charges?

What a pussy.

Why is this news? We constantly beat the shiat out of each other as kids. Broken bones, broken teeth, bloody noses, etc. I can't believe the one kid had to go to jail.

Getting a kick as I'm sitting here eating my supper. Ms. Farkerette made a delicious meal of marinated mule spleens.

2011-10-25 06:19:55 PM
When I was 11 I was very small and always picked on. Eventually I raged and beat up one of the bigger kids. Like a fiend on PCP (according to people that were there).

The other boy had to spend 2 days at the hospital, broken rib, face lacerations (yes, I kicked him while he was down thank you).

No one ever though about involving the cops, my dad met his dad, we were made to shake hands and promise to stay away from each other.

/csb I know.

and this is why my kids aren't going to be allowed to play football...or anything else with an unreasonably high risk of concussions or other serious damage. yes, i know you can get severely hurt doing damned near anything, but statistically, there are much safer sports to play and the kiddies will just have to live with that.

I try very hard not to be Bubble Wrap Mommy, my kids run outside and play with sticks and things, buit this one go to me. His parents asked in lieu of flowers for donations to the school's football program. I thought that was odd - donating money to support the the thing that killed him.

Maybe they viewed it as a freak accident and wanted in some way to help promote something their child loved to do.

/freak accidents happen.
//high school kids sometimes die in PE doing nothing more than jogging, that's why every school has an AED now.
///there seem to be phases in life where you find out if your genes have a short in them and just how bad it might be. (5th month of pregnancy -fetus, newborns, mid-toddler, high school, early 20s. Seems to be the trend where I live. Mid-toddler is largely mental development issues).

In elementary school I was almost a foot taller and a good twenty pounds heavier than anyone else. Fifth grade, some little punk decides to continually say crap and throw things at me, knowing I was a pretty calm and passive person. He decided to shove me, so I picked him up and dropped him on his face. No detention, no cops, my parents told the school I wouldn't be disciplined at home for standing up for myself, and his parents told him he got what he deserved. Now, I'd probably have gone to jail until I was an adult and had to write him an apology.
