So, the first time the Packers lose, the Patriots immediately go to #1, right?

There is 0 chance GB loses this week.

Steelers and Chargers are way too high. Between the two of them they've not beaten a single good opponent.

Bengals and Eagles probably ranked too low.

Putting up 62 on the Colts is by no means an indication of power.

But after last night, I think the Ravens are ranked way too high. If there's one thing they didn't display against the 2-5 Jags, its power.

Ravens 6th after last nights debacle? Wow.

2011-10-25 12:53:27 PM
Next Week:

Packers 1(1) I can't believe Aaron Rodgers was getting a blowjob during each snap and still threw for 350 yards.

Patriots 2 (2) Losing 21-17 to Big Ben and the Steelers is nothing to be ashamed of

Saints 3 (3) They may have literally set St. Louis on fire with another 55 point margin of victory, but that's not enough to bump them up the list.

Steelers 4(5) barely squeaking by the Patriots doesn't bode well for Pittsburgh's post season chances.

The Patriots butthurt should be strong in this thread, just like every other Power Rankings thread.

Ravens didn't display anything other than ineptitude.

Saints put up 62 against a JV NFL team with a hapless QB. All the Saints did was put IND out of it's misery (for the week.)

NE didn't play, and plays PIT next week which if they win (they probably won't with DFL defense) would rightfully remain in the #2 spot. NE most likely loses and falls to #7 at worst.

That may be, but wasn't it only the fourth time in 60-something years anyone's fed a sixtyburger to anybody? Beating the shiat out of shiat is one thing, beating that much shiat out of shiat is another, lol.

For the inevitable spittle.

They should cut the list off at around 20 and just group all remaining teams under the label "Imitation NFL Football-like Product." There are a number of teams that don't deserve the dignity of a ranking this week.

The Steelers have beaten the teams they were scheduled to play. It's not like they can reschedule in the middle of the season. They're only ranked too high if the Ravens and 49ers are also ranked too high. Then again, what do I care? It only really matters where you finish, not what people think of you after Week 7.

I agree with you that the Bengals are perhaps too low, but that won't matter when Pittsburgh beats them twice. The Eagles, for all their hype, don't deserve anything higher than where they're at until they play their way back into the division race. Right now it looks like Keystone Kops in that division, so it could happen. They're only 2 back and nobody seems to want it.

Yeah, but that's when the bottom falls out. @NE, Pittsburgh at home, @Chicago, @NYJ, Packers at home, all in a row. I think sneaking 1 win would be good, 2 would be fantastic.

Well to taints fans it means they are elite and everyone else is below them now that they are hitting on all cylinders. Of course, you have to ignore this was one of the worst teams and a horrendous defense, you expect the same whining next week when they cream a bad rams team as well. Both times its moronic fans who only look at points to determine how good they are.

The Niners should be 3rd. Really. Stop laughing.

Beating TB by 45 is a whole lot more impressive than beating Indy by 55.

Though really, either team could be there. It's hard to say that losses @TB and @GB are that much worse than one loss vs DAL. I mean, @GB's kind of a given loss, and I'd say the Bucs and Cowboys are about the same. Niners lost at home, but they don't have a second loss on their record.

Niners' best wins are @CIN, @DET, vs TB. The Saints have vs CHI and vs HOU. To me, the edge goes to the Niners for winning tougher games and specifically tougher road games. The best Saints road wins are @CAR and @JAC.

So yeah. Edge goes to the Niners. But it's the Saints! So this was expected.

/Still, 4th. Somebody pinch me.

The spread for next week's game is -3 for the Pats at home... which pretty much means it's a toss up since the home team gets spotted 3 points.

Are you saying the Niners' schedule hasn't been that tough? Their opponents are a combined 20-18. Subtract the 1-5 from the Niners' games (shouldn't penalize their SoS because of their own wins) and that's 19-13. Pretty good, including road wins against the Lions and Bengals. I guess they haven't beaten a truly top team yet, but a lot of people had the Lions close to that territory.

Yeah but I tell you what, I feel a lot better about the team than I did a few weeks ago. Neither the Bears nor Jets are as unbeatable for the Chefs as you would have guessed at the beginning of the year.

If they can beat SD this week, and split those two road games in Dec, you might be looking at 8 or 9 wins, depending on how they do v. Denver and Oakland at the end of the year. Heck for all we know, Green Bay might be sitting their starters by Week 15 as well.

I finally figured out the Lions' game this season: start out 5-0, to get their 3 fans' hopes up and have everyone else think the world is ending, and then drop the rest of their games to finish 5-11.

BRILLIANT! :D

It's close. I think the edge, based on schedule / performance, goes to the Niners. Any sort of eye test goes to the Saints, because they won a super bowl two years ago and the Niners are the Niners.

I understand that Josh Freeman had an awful game but, holy hell Flacco looked horrid for 40 minutes of football. The Ravens offense didn't have a first down until 1/4 through the 3rd quarter. Flacco had NEGATIVE passing yards through the 1st half. Atleast Freeman threw for over 150 yards.

There has to be some sort of special recognition of the Raiders QBs. That was performance that doesn't come along very often.

Well, if you go with the oft-cited If These Teams Played on a Neutral Field idea, the Saints have it. You go on schedules, well, the Niners beat the Bucs who beat the Saints. It's close, but as a wholly unbiased observer, I have to say the Saints.

The Steelers lost to the Ravens and the Texans. Those are two good teams that they could have beaten to prove themselves an elite team. They didn't though. They lost.

Adolf Oliver Nipples: The Eagles, for all their hype, don't deserve anything higher than where they're at until they play their way back into the division race.

If the Eagles were playing any of the teams between ranks #10-21, would you say that Eagles are the underdog? Probably not. Philadelphia's a talented team that could beat almost anyone in the NFL if they get their act together. Teams like that aren't ranked 22nd.

I can't wait for the ESPN QB Ratings to come out and explain that because none of Brees' touchdowns were really important and the GB offense was firmly in control, Tim Tebow was the strongest quarterback in the league because he had more action plays in the last 3 minutes when everything counts 500%
