"We need money bad," agreed fellow Philadelphia protester Kate Corbett. Occupy Philly has raised $10,000.

This? This right here is how the Occupy movement is going to fark stuff up.

Oh good lord, no. The last thing this movement needs is to be captured and co-opted by Democrats looking to steal its momentum. No, it needs to remain diffuse and protean, free of the Democratic party and its front groups which have spent decades swallowing and neutralizing real, radical movements. The object here isn't reform, but systemic change. Transforming into one more chip be played by the power brokers who got us here is exactly the thing that will guarantee the stability of the status quo.

Parry has been quite clear that he can't be bought for $2K . For $500K, he would probably support trading American newborns to North Korea for use in medical experiments.

What are they going to spend $500,000 on anyway? More irritating mass emails? Shopping carts for the things they couldn't leave home without?

I don't consider that to be in the 1%. It might really be, but that's no where near what I'd call wealthy. Don't get me wrong, you're doing well at that, but not even close to wealthy.

Not bad... if they can keep the $100K/wk thing going, it definitely gets other movements funded when the weather turns in the N.East

They're already dangerously close, and have been painted as such in recent media, if the Facebook updates I've seen are any indication.

A great many people are already poisoned into thinking something exactly along those lines.

yea, that whole demonizing everyone who doesn't share your narrow point of view really hurts when it comes from "news" organizations and pundits.

vpb: How much influence are you going to buy with $500,000?

You might be surprised what a bunch of pikers most politicians are. Of course, I'm not talking about honest money, money that ends up in a campaign chest. I'm talking about money that starts out in an envelope and ends up stored in the fridge. So instead of talking about how much they've raised, OWS should be keeping mum about it, so when Universal Health Care, or whatever they want to buy, improbably passes no one suspects anything.

Winter bikers have been using electric vests, pants, gloves, socks, ect to stay warm while flying down the road at 75 mph.

You can substitute one of those small Honda generators for the bike alternator that usually keeps them powered

Only if you talk about the 1% in wage earnings and not wealth earned, For example, you may have heard the folks on wall street have pretty low wages, but that doesn't take into account their massive bonuses.basemetal: mrshowrules: basemetal: A half million gets you into the 1% club? Really?

This is all BS. They are trying to frame the top 1% of wage earners into the argument when what is actually being talked about is the 1% of Americans in terms of wealth, those who own 40%+ of the wealth of the entire country.

This is different than wage earner, that's the FOX line to confuse people.
