I wouldn't go so far as to say that, but when they hit they score from 3 point territory.

I usually loathe Seth Green, but RC is generally very good.

No cable or satellite anymore, so I haven't been able to watch Robot Chicken or Aqua Teen Hunger Force Unit Patrol Squad for a while now. Is there any place where I can view those online legally?

The wife and I babysit her cousin's little boy from time to time. He's almost 2. His favorite shows are Yo Gabba Gabba and Samurai Jack, neither of which I was familiar with up until very recently, as we have no kids of our own. Samurai Jack is pretty well done, and even somewhat engaging for the adults in the room. YGG or the other hand seems to be a chaotic sequence of brief and seemingly unrelated lesson based skits, separated by 5 second clips of a random child dancing against a backdrop of an 8-bit graphic marquee with their name on it.

A couple of weeks ago, me and the misses are lying in bed, watching some Robot Chicken before going to sleep when I hit upon a realization. Robot Chicken is Yo Gabba Gabba for grown ups.

Adult Swim usually has a few episodes at a time availible for free on their website, and they have a new "adult swim gold" thing for people with certain service providers if you have cable/satelite. But despite being a time warner company, does not include farking time warner cable last time i checked.

TV suffers from the same disease as most non internet media.

Bean counters and other assholes in suits have turned it into white bread.

Wrong, subby. Wonder Showzen was TV for the ADD generation. It got canned due to sheer awesomeness. It also birthed a few common memes.

The ADHD part is that it's impossible to skip through it because you're bored. It changes randomly every 5 seconds on average, so skipping around gets you nothing different than just watching it.

Having lived with it for 42 years now(although not diagnosed till 38) I am well aware which of my crazy behaviours are attributed to the disease and understood how they apply to the show.

Upon reflection, I suppose someone undiagnosed and/or ignorant of the realities, not myths, of ADHD might appreciate you pointing it out so I withold my sarcasm. That and noone likes an areshole.

I love Robot Chicken (well, most of the time), but I think the ads that I can't see on the Entertainment page were more than enough, especially since Adult Swim's pulled some subscription bullshiat with cable providers and their online viewing crap. Did they promote Tim and Eric to some sort of executive marketing position?

The entire concept of the humping robot was stolen from Penny Arcade. In fact, most of the jokes aren't original. And the fact that they wear them out faster than a reused condom is boring enough, but then they pad one good joke in an entire episode with 10 minutes 30 seconds of crap filler.

So that's what "sponsored link" means. I never paid enough attention to think it through. All I thought was, "This is obviously not popular, based on the number of comments."

/Have never seen "Robot Chicken."
//Now I will take a glance at it, for amusement's sake. It'd better be amusing, for all that effort!

The timestamp keeps moving keeping it on top, presumably because it's a sponsored thread. I thought the same thing at first.

I love Robot Chicken, 75% of it is lame but when they hit it's worth seeing.

I've seen a few episodes, but I can't say I'm a fan. It seems like one of those shows you almost need to be high on acid to make sense of.

It can be slightly amusing at times, and quirky all the other times. It's never laugh-out-loud funny though.

Yeah I was wondering if I was somehow confused (not all that far fetched) or if I had, indeed, read this yesterday.

Apparently if you cough up enough dough you greenlight two days in a row with the same weak headline. Who knew?

I think Weird Al's UHF really invented the short-gag.

I'd seen plenty of SNL and Monty Python. Sure, they're skits with unique, isolated contexts and gags, but those are a prolonged format. Short-gags like "Conan the Librarian" are distinctly different... look, it's Conan! He delivers a few good lines and in seconds we're done with it and change channels. It's rather laconic, even when delivering the Overly Long Gag (Sideshow Bob stepping on rakes, Peter Griffin skinning his knee).

The Internet certainly popularized it, but I'm not aware of solid examples of this prior to UHF. The Cutaway Gag that Family Guy is so famous/infamous for is pretty much the same thing, since it abruptly leaves the context of the storyline entirely to deliver a single gag and then abruptly returns. FG is and Robot Chicken are both Seth Green, of course.

If you want more of this, you can watch AMV Hell (new window) (that's just #1, and they get better and better)

There's like 5 of them, PLUS one worst-of-the-worst Hentai episode you probably won't find on YT. I can't promise you everything in the other 5 is SFW outside of that, though.
