Was anyone really surprised by this? GTA is Rockstar's Zelda (or Mario). They wouldn't let anything happen to the franchise that made them a household name.

Now if they could make this one more fun and lighthearted I'd be happy. GTAIV was great, but depressing as hell at the same time. Give me the laughs, shout-outs, and some zaniness of Vice City or San Andreas.

It's been known for months now. Rockstar started searching for GTAV voice actors a while back.

Matthew: (18-25 Male United States) - A liberal young male who believes in a conspiracy made by republicans to undermine America.

Jose: (30-40 Male United States) - A white creepy man who thinks that technology is a poison against the wilderness.

James Pedeaston: (40-45 Male United States) - A man-boy love activist who just got released from an Indonesian prison.

Samantha: (20-25 Female United States) - A young female obsessed with sex parties, always dreaming of being a Hollywood celebrity.

Anthony: (10-15 Male United States) - A young, fast-talking boy fighting for the right of young boys to drink alcohol and have sex.

Ohh and don't make the NPCs so needy. If I don't answer my phone right away it's probably because I'm shooting rival gangs or banging whores, no reason to get all pissed at me.

Am I the only one who was unable to get into GTA IV? I have it, but have probably put less than 10 hours into it.

I'll still probably end up buying this after the price drops.

I actually thought Liberty City was pretty good. Though i thought the story for LATD was a much better story than the primary story.

Then again i don't really play GTA for the story so if you could bring back the amusing stuff like the sex toy as a weapon.

Saints Row seems to have pounced on the whole zany, lighthearted, over the top region so i think GTA may be trying to become more serious so they can separate from the new guy.

Meh, I used to get excited by this but after GTA4 I'm over it.

Can't wait for Saints row 3 though! That looks like fun, and the guys at Volition have picked up the Fun-Baton that Rockstar dropped after GTA San Andreas.

Hopefully Rockstar doesn't mess up this game too. LA Noire overheats my slim PS3 and it shuts down after 10 minutes of game play (and there are reports that it's been happening to a lot of people on both PS3 and Xbox360) and all Rockstar says it's a faulty disk or a faulty console. The fact that my console has no problem with any other games doens't matter to them and no way in hell am I buying a game that has that kind of problems.

Yea and I figured that's what happened when they made GTAIV more serious. Hell I only made it about halfway through the story before I just started rampaging the streets and flying helicopters into buildings like the good old days. SR3 sounds like a great time, probably be picking that up when it releases.

Lumbar Puncture: Eh, I might get it but I've moved on Rockstar. Just Cause and Saint's Row fills my open world needs now.

I love it when people bring up JC or JC2. One of the best open world games ever. Can't wait for the 3rd one whenever it's supposed to come out. I'm really hoping they do multiplayer, like RDR type where anyone can join a full size map and just rampage/kill others or go to specific match types if they want instead. RDR was fun with horses, but I wanna play chicken with a jet.

I liked IV, but I have to admit, VC and SA were way better for continued play once you finished the story and hit 100%. IV just was TOO gritty; I'm right there with you in "bring back the zany." They did that a little bit with the BOGT expansion, but they need to get back to the goofiness and feel of Vice City. SA was just about too big, and IV was just too small; not enough other stuff to do. Put us back in Vice City or San Andreas and let us run wild again, please.

I bought the shiatty "port" of GTA IV to PC. The one that requires to get a Windows gaming account to play the farking game and then runs like crap. So if this is any good, I'll be pirating it since Rockstar owes me 40 dollars.

same, i thought it was boring, they didn't add anything, it forced me to do the stupid "busywork" minigames, the multiplayer was a complete crock and for the love of all things sacred FIX THE CAR PHYSICS. taking a corner at 30 mph in what is supposed to be a freaking porsche should not result in my car flying across 7 lanes of traffic and nailing a building

You must have a lethargic PC. It runs awesome on my gaming rig. Of course, I have 6GB of RAM and two video cards, so I can say they didn't exactly make it simple to get it to run great on crazy-high settings.

Still, it runs alright on my VAIO Z, too (as long as it's docked) and that's pretty impressive since I'm running it from an external USB drive.

Agreed on Windows Live, though. F♥ck that noise.

Don't forget the part where it was so buggy that it was impossible to finish the final mission without installing a cheat that would press the spacebar thousands of times per second for you so you could actually climb into the helicopter.

Oh, and don't forget that the engine for playing the prerendered cutscenes had a memory leak in it. It was hard to hear the dialogue in them when I had four processor fans start running the second the cutscene starts, blowing full bore during the scene, and then powering down as soon as the cutscene was over.

And while I don't necessarily agree that GTA IV was too "gritty," it did lack most of the humor of the previous iterations. And the "realistic" vehicle physics made driving a chore. And there was a lot of driving in it, since you only had about 4 safehouses to save in, and none of them were particularly convenient. And it killed any enthusiasm I have for future GTA games, even though I still play GTA:SA from beginning to end about once a year.

GTA IV sucked. There, I said it.

I'm not trolling. Really, I thought it sucked.

Believe me, I wanted to love GTA IV, I loved all the previous ones, but GTA IV was just a pain in the ass. I can't believe that the GTA franchise that I worshiped could deliver such an un-fun game to play. I got so bored and sick of it, I quit halfway through and despite four attempts to get back into it, I just couldn't.

So please, Rockstar, go back to GTA San Andreas and look at the wonderfully varied missions and the sprawling, three-city concept. Because while I do appreciate that Liberty City was incredibly detailed, it was an incredibly detailed sardine can that I just wanted to bust out of. Bring back the wide-open spaces, please, I'm begging you.

I enjoyed the others much more. I though Vice City was a masterpiece. After that, it seemed like they were just adding shiat for the hell of it. It's nice to have a really open world, but I want to do fun stuff. I wouldn't go bowling in real life, let alone pretend too. And I will never understand virtual dating. fark that.

Is it possible to like GTA and Saint's Row equally? Sometimes I want to drive around a beautifully rendered city with realistic driving and damage, and sometimes I want to run around naked and beat people with dildos. They're both a lot of fun.

I can't speak for the Windows version of GTA IV, but EA Sports has pulled some PC-porting bullsh*t over the years.

When NHL07 was released, it was the first NHL game with the new revolutionary control scheme, pretty cool stuff. Well, at that time I didn't have an XBOX360, but I had a PC. At that time, EA was putting out PC games on the same schedule as console games.

So I bought the PC version and waited for my mind to be blown with all the fun stuff those XBOX360 people were getting.

You can probably see where this is going.

The PC version was a completely watered-down piece of sh*t that didn't include the new control scheme at all and had graphics far inferior to the XBOX360 version. Yet, they were selling it with the exact same packaging and branding as the XBOX360 version.

So yeah, maybe that doesn't mean I deserve to pirate a copy, but that's a f*cking bullsh*t bait and switch on the part of EA. What's worse is that EA keeps doing this.

I think Vice City was the one above all. I remember turning on Emotion 98.3, grabbing a dirt bike, and crusing the beaches at night. I still can't listen to Toto's Africa without wanting to blow someone away.

Played a little San Andreas the other night and man is that game a lot better than GTA IV. It's just a lot more fun and I actually like the massiveness of it. The 2p is also a bonus

Vice City is excellent and at the time, it was definitely my favorite. The city is extremely well done and the soundtrack is legendary.

But to me San Andreas did the unthinkable and topped Vice City. The map of San Andreas alone is just a thing of unbelievable beauty. It's not until you play San Andreas that you really notice that Vice City was as flat as piss on a plate. The elevation changes and climate changes in San Andreas are just awesome, because they do such an amazing job of capturing three distinct cities.

Then in GTA IV, they say "f*ck all that" and jam you back into a highly detailed, but dark and dank sh*thole.

They lost me.

I just want the variety back. I liked GTA IV, but it was way pretty much drive to point A, shoot some guys, drive back (the DLC side stories fixed this at least). The TV stations were awesome, the fake internet was great, some of the characters were fun but man it was often more fun to watch than to actually play.

I hope they figure out a better method of story telling than the main character be everyone's biatch this time.

I just bought Chinatown Wars on the DS. It's more fun than it has any right to be.

One of the wonderful things about San Andreas on PC is the mod community.

Whoever created the San Andreas Handling Editor should be given a Congressional Medal of Honor, a Nobel Peace Prize and a coupon for Long John Silver's.

I've tinkered with so many cars and motorcycles and made them just ridiculous. I will turn on San Andreas and just f*ck around with my stable of ridiculously fast, ridiculously heavy super cars.
