4th-trimester abortion?

eh, the kids would just grow into ungrateful, selfish teenagers anyway. No big loss.

I wonder if it really was a "junior member" that decided to do this. It sounds more like a money-hungry executive decision to me. "Babies having the potential to get shot and if not then a big sob reunion story? Think of the RATING!"

As nice as it would be to spend time with your child while you're away from home at war... this was a horrible idea and I'm glad it's blown up in the face of the idiots who came up with it.

The thread (new window)is much more entertaining than the article.

Hello Lucy, it really is a pleasure to hear from you. We'd love to help you out, we really would, but first we'll need to see some photos of your norks. Those are the rules I'm afraid - we'd change 'em if we could, honest. Don't worry if you don't have any handy, lingerie shots will do in a pinch.

Yeah, not a cunning plan. I'm sure the fathers/mothers are aching deeply to see their children, but no one wants to see their children brought to a very dangerous place.

I know it's hard to find willing soldiers to fill the spots needed to continue all your wars, but this type of conscription is a little silly.

Hey they don't call it "infantry" for no reason.

Those last two sentences are as close to "those responsible have been sacked" as I've seen in the real world.

I have never heard the word norks before, but I will now use it all the time.

Didn't think I would see ARRSE linked on Fark, awesome. To those where NSFW matters it's best to consider the whole site NSFW as the avatars and sigs alone can be very NSFW, let alone the random bestiality pics that people like to throw in for a laugh.

It's only a junior members idea when it all goes wrong. Just like Sen Brown when He got busted plagiarizing a website. If it works out, of course it was my idea, if it doesn't it was some junior member acting on his own.

See, this is why we need a draft. Outside of a very small and compartmentalized sliver of the population, people just don't understand what a war zone is.

I am surprised to see this sort of insanity in the UK, however: civilians there have a recent cultural memory of what war is like. In the USA the last time a war really plowed through our country was in the 19th century.

This is about what I was thinking. Afghanastan isn't a reality show....it's freaking war. Geez.

The really sad thing is if the show had actually gone into production, they'd have had no lack of participants.

When I was born my dad was in the middle of a deployment to Scotland and back on a submarine. He and a dozen other guys were all expecting kids. If these jackasses were around back them they probably would have either a) want to fit us with SCUBA gear b) leave us on a buoy for pickup or c) drop us over the side of a destroyer strapped to a disabled depth charge.

/My dad said it was like traveling with his own support group.
//You could tell the daddies because when they got off the boat they rushed for phones and toy shops, not bars.
///Love my teddy bear he brought back.

Indeed. Planes are too dangerous for babies. They should be shot out of a cannon in the general direction of Afghanistan instead.

They present small targets, they're adept at crawling over rough terrain, they're awake for much of the night, and you can fit a few hundred of them in a Blackhawk. They're the perfect soldiers.

Conscripts tend to suck when paired against professionals who signed up.

One hundred or more infants. On a transatlantic flight.

Dear sirs and madams, you could not pay me enough to endure a plane ride like that.
