I consider TFA's use of a file photo in this case rather misleading. I highly doubt the police would use a Thompson 1928 and an MP40 in a sting operation. If they actually did, I am quite mad that they messed with those valuable antiques to make them inoperable.

My dad's friend found an "inoperable" MP-40 or MP-44 (can't remember offhand) over a bar in Philly. He bought it and fixed the firing pin. He enjoys it.
