Not that I'm elated that a person died, but this guy no longer being in office is a good thing.

murtha was always in the top ten most corrupt politician lists (though he was usually one of two or three dems to seven or eight republicans).

good riddance.

That's just perpusterous. I know for a fact all curruption is demonrat corruption. Not that you'd ever hear it in the larpstream driveby MSNBC gadfly media conglomoration corporation news!

That article reads like the Congressional Handbook for Enriching Yourself and Your Friends. It must be required reading.

Getting popcorn while some threadshiatter is crafting their perfect post claiming that us libs defend people like Murtha when in reality we throw them under the bus just as FREQUENTLY as GOPers when warranted but not as VEHEMENTLY because at least their crimes usually don't reek of hypocrisy.

Anyone got the link to Murtha's ABScam video where he debated taking a bribe?

Yeah, because Eliot Spitzer wasn't being hypocritical by prosecuting prostitution rings, while at the same time patronizing prostitutes.

Not you libs. You libs' leadership.

Washington Post, late '06: Pelosi Endorses Murtha as Next Majority Leader

2005: Kerry Demands End to Murtha "swift boating"

Non-hacks have known for ages that Murtha was on the take for decades, but it was politically convenient to trot out Murtha's war record as if that was some kind of excuse.

Duke Cunningham was a war hero, too.

And a crook.

Yeah, I was pretty pissed at them for that, just like EWreckedSean is BOUND to be pissed at Boehner / Cantor / McConnell for sinking our economy further because of the faux-debt-poutrage that accomplished nothing.

The latter part about accountability, sure, but Murtha was propped up and squeezed for every last ounce as "THE GOOD MILITARY GUY" by the democrats long after his corruption was a foregone conclusion.

No, I think you are confusing "family values ... busted for immoral stuff" with hypocrisy. While that is a subset of hypocrisy, it's a minor one. Charlie Rangel sitting on the House committing on Taxation, and failing to report income to the IRS is a perfect example of non-"family values" hypocrisy.

I don't have much use for Boehner / Cantor / McConnell. However, picking those 3 as the cause of our current economic woes is a bit funny.

Its another reason for term limits, stay in there too long and they can do almost anything without getting caught or having so much power they can threaten any one who dares to blow their scam. There should also be an age limit, once you hit 80 you have to quit, almost everyone at that age is completely out of touch with society and reality.

2011-10-25 01:42:07 PM
It's unfortunate that Democrats did nothing about Murtha while he was alive. If they could just deal with the few corrupt members of the party like Rengel, Murtha, etc, they'd have an absolute moral monopoly over Republicans.

I am not weighing severity of immoral hypocrisy against unethical hypocrisy. I am just saying, you get both on the right and only 1 on the left, if weighted equally, you'll get more hypocrisy on the right hands down.
