I hate the Yankees too, but sadly for baseball, without the Red Sox, Yankees, or maybe a couple of other high-spending teams, people just aren't paying attention. The same reason this thread has about as many comments as a women's basketball thread.

Dallas residents are going to be even more insufferable if the Rangers win the same year the Mavericks won their title.

/At least the Cowboys aren't likely to be in the Super Bowl so we can avoid Bostonian levels of douchery

The WS game Sunday night had more viewers than the NFL game. Haven't seen results from last night yet, but that may be the case there as well. Go google yourself up some Nielsons. This has been a fairly highly rated series.

Having more television viewers watch a championship level game in one sport versus an early season game in another is not a very good comparison. Would you say soccer is more popular because so many people watched the World Cup final?

He already did get hurt. It didn't seem to stop him from playing.

I think he's still trying to make up for his vacation during the playoffs a few years back.

It's a fair trade. We've had decades of the Cowboys being good while all our other sports teams sucked. (I don't count the Stars because they were already a top-tier team when we imported them.)

Hell, in the mid 90s, you could get great seats for the Mavs for less than 20 bucks. They were that bad and the post Nolan Ryan Rangers weren't much better.

Since the Cowboys have basically turned into Jerry's ego-trip, I'm content to see them suffer while our other teams have some success.

La Russa is apparently claiming that the bullpen coach couldn't hear him over the noise in the stadium. New home field advantage?

That is seriously weird stuff, and as a Brewers fan I can't help but feel schadenfreude over the fact that it's TLR.

Knowing him though, he'll probably find a way to turn this into a them-vs-us mentality and rally his team for two more wins.

I don't hate the Cardinals (even thought I'm a Cubs fan), but I have an intense dislike for Tony LaRussa and his whiny crybaby act. That said, this has been a a fun series to watch and play armchair manager.

And hey! Epstein is going to be announced as the new President of Baseball Operations today. Finally the Cubs can modernize a woefully behind-the-times front office. I'd be happy with not making the playoffs for another 5 years if it means that they are finally building a top-shelf scouting and development system.

What "insufferable" behavior have you noticed? I mean, I think when your basketball team wins their first championship, you get to be pretty happy about that. You sound whiny and intolerant.

And that's WORLD CHAMPION DALLAS MAVERICKS to you, bucko.

I feel the same way about the Mets with Alderson and DePodesta. It's nice.

I usually don't get worked up about people but TLR has always bothered me. Him not taking any blame for last night is pretty ridiculous. I don't mind him talking about the phone or whatever as long as he takes some responsibility. But going by the quotes I'm seeing, he hasn't even done that. And I'd really like to know who was actually responsible for Craig getting TOOTBLAN'd twice since Buck and McCarver were speculating that Pujols might have made one of the hit and run calls himself.

/rooting for the Rangers due to leftover bitterness from 2006

Meh, I like him as an assistant. If he were the big boss I probably wouldn't be so optimistic. That said, I'd think (hope) that he learned from his Dodgers experience a bit.

Plus he was awesome in Superbad.

I may have missed this since I wasn't watching as closely at that point, but could LaRussa have put that pitcher in for an intentional walk as a way of giving the next pitcher more time to warm up?

InCaseOfFire: Fell asleep after Texas went up 4-2. The Cards couldn't get a hit with RISP to save their life.

This game was just painful to watch as a Cards fan. The hitters completely failed to capitalize with RISP. The baserunning was pants on head retarded (the hit and run with Freese and Pujols not once, but TWICE). The complete and utter farkup that was the relief pitching. The defensive play that just sucked ass. They were farkups at every single turn, and the funny thing is that the Rangers only won by a couple runs.

I wondered if the team that put themselves ten games down would show up in this series, and they sure as hell did last night. I realized about the 5th inning that if the Cards win the Series, the best team in baseball this year sure as hell didn't win it all. While they're capable of some incredible feats, they are also liable to commit some truly boneheaded and incompetent acts on the field as well.

The local media reported that TLR says there was a communication error with the bullpen. I think it's pretty telling that even the aforementioned local media is sniffing this story and saying "hey, this smells like bullshiat."

LOL, if you think I'd listen to Fox propaganda of any kind then you don't know me at all :-P
I would, however, assume the simple explanation, that LaRussa pulled a stall tactic, rather than believe a long-time MLB manager did something so inconceivably idiotic.
