The only reason needs to be the 192 proof awesomeness that is Ron Farking Swanson. If his awesomeness proof number were any higher, he'd evaporate in a puff of uber.

The best thing the show did was exchange the Mark Brendanawicz character for Ben Wyatt. Adam Scott is hilarious.

But yes, Ron Farking Swanson is goddamn amazing. And there are few things funnier than the episodes where he and Tammy 2 go batshiat insane together.

I don't get it. I've seen the pilot (once when it came out, and just recently on Netflix) and I don't find anything funny about it. Does it get exponentially better in later episodes? I don't understand the appeal.

The first season is not very good at all. Just start at the second season. That's what I did.

This. I've seen a couple of episodes and was underwhelmed. I think 30 Rock and The Office are hilarious, but this... I dunno. But Ron Swanson is funny.

Okay, I tried to watch this first season, and I've heard it gets better, but... God, for me, there is just something about Amy Poehler's big, smirking mug that sucks up any funny that might be going on around her.

I felt the same way, but season two and beyond get to the point where I can forget about how much I hate her stupid face for 30 minutes.

Pro tip: SKIP SEASON ONE and go straight to season 2 and so forth. I have never seen a show get so good from one season to a very "meh" first season, but trust me, this comedy is one of the best, if not the best on TV right now.

And now for some Ron:

Is it still a sitcom that uses that faux-interview/mockumentary/shaky cam format combined with a lot of deadpan one-liners? Oh, it is?

Then f♥ck it. Sitcoms can suck a fart in hell.

Den of Geek is wrong about one thing at least. The show needs to ditch Jean-Ralphio. And probably Tom Haverford also. At this point Aziz Ansari's character is stunningly unfunny.

I'd rather see more of Jerry and Donna than Tom Haverford.

But yes. Ron Farking Swanson is enough for me to tune in each week. The rest is gravy.

Every time he shows up feels really contrived now that he doesn't work there anymore. Once his goofy Jean-Ralphio enterprise goes tits-up and he has to go back to his old job, I suspect the character will work better.

Although Jean-Ralphio's "your eyes are going to piss tears" remark at the opening of the Lil' Sebastien memorial ranks as one of the show's best lines for me.

SnakeMan: If Ron Swanson were a real person, everyone here would be posting comments like, "TEABAGGER!! HURR DURR!1!"

Ron Swanson is a fictional character, whose political beliefs are made to be humorously outlandish, such as modeling all government services on Chuck E. Cheese.

If you would like to say that you, in real life, hold the exact same political beliefs as a humorous sitcom character, I will be the first in line to call you a f*cktarded teabagger.

Ron Swanson is funny, Asiz Asnari is kinda funny but gets annoying in large doses. Amy Poehler is not funny at all on this show, which is too bad because she was decent on SNL.

For the same reason Alec Baldwin, a very liberal actor, can play a supply-side Reagan-loving Republican on "30 Rock."

The writing is God Damned funny.

Dennis Miller is not funny anymore. His comedy is poor. His career was on the wane anyway, but then 9/11 happened and he shiat his pants and went straight to sucking George W Bush's dick. This would be fine if he were still making good comedy, but he isn't. He doesn't do comedy anymore. He fancies himself as a humorous political commentator, the Right's answer to Bill Maher.

But Maher, smug and arrogant as he is, at least remembered that the jokes still have to be funny.

Miller forgot that.
