sooo...he's an asshole. well that's not really a surprise. question is - is he 'just' an asshole, or is this asshole move something that any GOP congressional member would pull off?

I have a hard time caring about this. It's a job fair. Why does he need to be there?

RexTalionis: I have a hard time caring about this. It's a job fair. Why does he need to be there?

but why lie about it?
that's the part which makes him look like a complete tard in the first place.

why is HIS FIRST reaction, "how do you know I am leaving??"
LOL

all he had to do is state:
I have another event double booked. I spent some time here, I will spend some time there.

TADA
problem averted.
instead he went the GOP/RTARD route ....

""Here's the reality," Ribble said in an interview from his jobs fair. "The more time I spend in here, I'm a bit of a distraction because the employers want to talk to people.""

that seems really reasonable. the actually job fair looked pretty miserable in that video still though.

He thinks he's important enough to be distraction. How cute.

wait, is he so integral to the success of the event that he must stay there the entire time or is he so insignificant that he would be unnoticed? and if the latter, why does he need to be there at all?

/don't like knighting for politicians, but my god...

This is a pretty lame "scandal".

That being said, I think it's hilarious the GOP has a Jobs Caucus. It's even more hilarious that the head of the Jobs Caucus "got in some hot water back home for supporting the House GOP measure eliminating job retraining funds from the federal budget".

Lovely.

Not sure why so many of you are quick to dismiss this as a non-story.

It pretty much exemplifies the GOP's utter lack of a plan to challenge the Obama administration's economic policy.

You seem to hate TPM for no discernible reason. This isn't the first time you've complained about them without commenting on the topic at hand. If you would disagree with the actual contents of the articles instead of just going "TPM, booooo!" you wouldn't seem like such a whining child.

Don't worry, we'll probably get a JammieWearingFool link tomorrow. Or you could go back and reread that "insightful" TownHall article from earlier if that fits your delicate sensibilities better.

As long as we don't have federal campaign finance reform, we're going to get more Reid Ribbles.

I hate the phrase "job creators" and whoever invented it needs to be throat punched.

They need to show their work before they use that title - exactly how many jobs have they created?

Whenever any politician uses that phrase they need to be met with loud, mocking laughter, just like the phrase "maverick" is met with loud, mocking laughter.

RexTalionis: I have a hard time caring about this. It's a job fair. Why does he need to be there?

The same reason presidents get criticized for going on vacations. Same reason the BP president got his arse handed to him for yachting. Same reason the woman complains "you're not listening" if you don't stare at her face for 20 straight minutes.

You may actually care about something, but if you don't put in the face time and show visible effort, don't be surprised if people don't think you care.

This clown can't suck it up for a whole three hours at his own job fair and you guys think TPM has a problem?

I think his constituents would probably appreciate it if he could at least pretend to care enough about them enough to stick it out the whole three hours before he goes to cash in. That's some fine representin' there, Congressman.

Let's be completely honest: the only thing the GOP ever does anymore is make excuses. They don't govern, they spend years 'debating' and running around for future runs, and they biatch and whine whenever someone calls them out on it. They're the biggest slackers in political history. The only legislation they even bother to try and pass is more corporate handouts.

This isn't a political party, it's a retirement plan for assholes.

As much as I loth the GOP I fail to see the problem here.

He organized a job fair, he announced a job fair would happen, and a job fair happened.

Good on him.

I don't see how him being there for only most of the even diminishes that. Do I hate the fact that our reps spend so much time fund raising? YES. But I also understand that they are trapped in a broken system. That is why I support a constitutional amendment mandating public campaign finance. If we had that he could of stayed for the whole of the event then, go out and got hammered, and then vote yes on the free government blow job robots for everyone bill and then we would all be happy.

2011-10-24 11:47:23 PM
What I want to know is whether those were even actual businesses represented there, or just a bunch of actors and GOP staffers playing make-believe for the cameras? In other words, was this a "real" job fair or just a put-on photo op? Their cred is such, after all, that one wouldn't necessarily be surprised to hear of them attempting such a scam.

Gee, did that sound overly partisan? Huh. By all means, then, feel free to register your shock and dismay. How dare I???

According to Republicans, government doesn't create jobs, so it wasn't like he was going to hire anyone at the jobs fair. Better that he spend his time rubbing elbows with the bourgeoisie; after all, they're the ones who elected him.

So a single GOP job creator goes on a campaign fundraiser and you get upset but THE STANDING PRESIDENT goes on campaigning and it's no big deal. He still has a country to (half ass -at best-) run and is doing the campaign thing.

I equate this to places putting their Christmas shiat out now. Any business who put their Christmas shiat early should lose their business license for a calender year.....

RexTalionis: I have a hard time caring about this. It's a job fair. Why does he need to be there?

More or less this. Was subby personally offended every time there was a college job fair and the dean, chair, and department heads didn't show up? Because that describes literally every job fair any institution I've ever been affiliated with has ever hosted. Hell, even the high school job fairs did not require the presence of the principle or teacher. Superintendent would show up, but I think that was because he was drinking buddies with some of the guys from the cannery.

g4lt: Rabbitgod: As much as I loth the GOP I fail to see the problem here.

No, no, he clearly meant Lolth, as in he wants to sacrifice them to a demonic spider diety of the underdark.

2011-10-25 03:55:42 AM
And I screwed principle/principal. Clearly I wasn't ever affiliated with an English department. Perhaps their deans always show up to play unnecessary host.

Why don't you just rename this shiatty site TPM's little FARK affiliate? It's sickening that there aren't adults with common sense in charge to put the brakes on the Leftist Admins who greenlight all this bullshiat.

They get no clicks from me, and FARK is about to get the same treatment.

Fix your Leftist bias, FARK. And fark off while you're at it.

You mad, bro?

2011-10-25 07:29:37 AM
Who cares?

Besides, I wasn't wondering at all... The GOP has made it abundantly clear they don't give a shiat about the unemployed, the poor, or even the middle class, for that matter.

2011-10-25 07:36:38 AM
Who would wonder such a thing? Everyone knows the GOP cares about their own jobs and that's it. Last time I checked, they didn't even remember that I'm one of their fellow Americans. I'm almost entirely certain that they would rather I just burn for eternity in a lake of fire... or some other equally shiatty thing.
