The Jags should probably just stay home and save some money.

volfan: The Jags should probably just stay home and save some money.

In the very very bottom basement Indoor football leagues, you'll often find very poorly run teams that can't meet payroll, and basically get guys off the street to play for nothing so that the other team has an opponent for their home game (and then get subsequently blown out like 84-3).

If the Jags didn't have MJD and Gabbert getting press... would anyone notice if the Jags did the same thing?

/did the Colts do that last night?

2011-10-24 01:53:04 PM
Maybe the Saints can lend some of their extras points from last night to the Jags. I'm sure the Ravens wouldn't mind spotting the Jags two touchdowns.

I'll take a stab at this one - Ravens win big.

All I ask of the Jags tonight is to have fewer than 3 turnovers and that they not allow Baltimore's defense to score a TD.

2011-10-24 02:57:24 PM
How did this crapfest get a MNF bid? It's going to be 60 minutes of Ngata working his way down the Jag's QB and RB depth charts.

I vote we just schedule all the Jets' games as MNF games next year. If nothing else Rex Ryan will put on some kind of show, even if Sanchez puts on a donkey show.

/I also think we should make the Giants hire Rob Ryan as their HC. The Jets/Giants rivalry would be the best thing ever

Please, please, please keep the Jaguars' score low.

I want the lulz to flow.

Blaine Gabbert playing against the Ravens D huh? I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say 9 sacks.

For the (probably not) last time. Ray Lewis did not murder those two guys, his posse did. Ray only obstructed justice by refusing to finger which guy actually got stabby. Besides, Ray is a real Christian now, you might say those two died for his sins.

I predict that Flacco goes 18-23 for about 320 yards with 2-3 TDs and no picks, Ravens win by 21, and then Tuesday Skip Bayless spends 40 minutes talking about how Joe doesn't have what it takes to lead a team because he got knocked down three times and overthrew Pitta on some first-down out route.

2011-10-24 03:05:21 PM
I need a whole lot of Flacco to Boldin tonight. While the Ravens D just plays normal and doesn't get turnovers or sacks.

/opponent has Ravens D
//I have both Flacco and Boldin

Actually the Jags are getting 11 points on my sportsbook.
My experience in NFL betting: Always take the double digit dog at home.
I am betting Jags plus 11...not a big bet mind you, just enough to keep it interesting.

Who the hell knows. Not really related, but Jags have 2 MNF home games this season alone. Ravens under Harbaugh have had 6 away MNF games and none at home, including this one.

The rat-birds will go in all over confident and embarrass themselves against a less talented team. Their D is getting old and loosing a step, and MoJo will run all over them and Gabbert will have a break out game.

Meaning you're a white guy that grew up in what, Michigan? Arizona? The Carolinas? Some other region that had a shiatty team for the last decade or so, so you latched on to a white-guy-approved team that won a pair of Super Bowls and act like you care?

Because you didn't say "Pittsburgh native," you said "Pittsburgh fan," and the rest of Football is tired of that bandwagon yinzer BS from every white person tired of their home team being mediocre.

Unless you're actually from Pittsburgh, in which case, you have my condolences.

I took GB, NO and Dal all to cover. Bal/Jax was only 8 when I bet it so I'll stick with it.
If I go 3/4 while giving 44 points, I'll be happy.

I actually agree with this, I was just getting the stupid puns out of the way early. I give Ray-Ray a lot of credit for turning his life around and trying to help others do the same. It's a shame that Jamal Lewis didn't listen to him.

We're all in agreement then, if Baltimore loses they get sent to the NFC West?

jdmac: The rat-birds will go in all over confident and embarrass themselves against a less talented team. Their D is getting old and loosing a step, and MoJo will run all over them and Gabbert will have a break out game.

Are you a crazy person? Their D isn't old, excepting maybe Reed and Ray Lewis, but nobody's looking at them like they've lost a step. Ngata, Suggs, Johnson, Webb, Carr, Cody, Redding, etc. all have lots of years left in the tank. And they're about to get healthy, which means younger -- Jimmy Smith has played one down this year and it was kickoff coverage.

They lead the league in points allowed. They're +5 turnovers in 5 games. The lead all defenses in yards allowed per play. They have allowed the fewest rushing yards in the league, and only the Browns have allowed fewer passing yards. They lead the league in defensive scoring. They lead the league in DVOA -- Football Outsiders ran an article today stating that, at this pace, they're going to be the best defense of the last 20 years:

http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/story?id=7140170&_slug_=nfl-examining- d ominance-baltimore-ravens-defense-year&action=upsell&appRedirect=http% 3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnfl%2fstory%3fid%3d7140170%26_slug_%3dnf l-examining-dominance-baltimore-ravens-defense-year

Basically, the Ravens D has been locking down opponents all year. If that's "old and losing a step," well, give me old dudes every season.

Flex scheduling can't start soon enough. Much as I enjoyed Manningface on the sidelines last night, if I wasn't a Saints' fan, I would have gone to bed at halftime.

Last week was, what, Toes at the Fins?

So glad Jacksonville got a team before Baltimore... they REALLY know how to support their team down there don't they?

Meanwhile, we had to wait another few years to build our "museum" down on Russell St. for The Ravens... and sell out every single home game they've ever played.

GO RAVENS!

This has to be the worst week in NFL history.

Just horrible matchups across the board. There wasn't a single game between two teams with a winning record, and it showed in the play.

Now you can't blame the schedule makers entirely, Colts/Saints would have been a great game last year.

2011-10-24 03:56:50 PM
For the first time in MANY years I am actually considering not watching MNF. Seriously who in the hell booked this crapfest for MNF. Its like ESPN and the NFL got together last year jerked off slung it at the wall and said "Be Something!" I stole that last part from a Drill Sergeant but you get my drift. And hell Im a Vikings fan its not like I have the greatest expectations in the world!

I took Dal in the day games and I might have had a few beers before that because half way through the game I forgot about my bet and the whole time I was thinking that I got GB. After halftime I log in to bodog and see my pending bets and see that I have Dallas and not GB. I also too NO at -8.5 and over 24.5 in the first half. My only loss this weekend was the Raiders. I shouldn't have taken them but I figured they could just run the ball like they have all year and cover the -4. Oh well, 3/4 isn't bad on pro games.

Toying with taking the Ravens tonight but I might just skip it.

It would not surprise me to see all of those flexed-out. That said, despite how bad the Chiefs looked first couple of weeks, they're now 3-3. The Raiders and Chargers are 4-2. If both KC and NE are in playoff contention, they will show that one.

So far the NFL is pretty horrible this year.

Lots of really bad team and teams with decent records but really aren't that good at all.

There's no really great teams. Green Bay is very good, but I think they look better because of how average everybody else is... typically a the features of a great team do not included lack of a running game and an above-average defense.

The rest? Pats are pretty good, Steelers are pretty good.. Saints are pretty good, all very flawed.
