I work Saturday nights and live in Alabama. Might as well close up at 7:00 and call it a night. No point in staying open after that.

Good. More drunker for longer!

Hell I'm much more inclined to watch the entirety of this game if it's late night.

/actually that's a lie, i'll be watching USCeast vs Tenn as well
//but why wouldn't they want this at prime time

I'm working the day that Saturday. I approve of this trade. I may not like the SEC but I do know a good game when I see it.

/Probably will replace the 2006 OSU-UM game as game of the century

ESPN on Sunday apologized for what it called an inappropriate comment made on ESPNews after Texas Tech's college football win against Oklahoma.

ESPNews anchor Todd Grisham, in conjunction with a shot of distraught Oklahoma fans, referred to a "trail of tears."

And then he goes on to say that "He didn't think about the historical reference".... do you even use that phrase if their ISN'T a historical reference? That is where the phrase comes from.

Aar1012: Probably will replace the 2006 OSU-UM game as game of the century

Sorry, maybe it could if this were undefeated Auburn and undefeated Alabama, but Michigan/OSU didn't just have "#1 vs. #2 undefeated teams" going for it, it's one of the biggest rivalries in sports. And it was the last game of the regular season.

It's the coaches. Miles has done well against Saban, with the two losses being close.

I have no doubts it'll be a highly watched game, and should be a good game. I can't wait to see what sort of trick(s) The Hat pulls out for this one.

The buildup to this game really reminds me of the 2006 OSU/UM game. Everyone -- everyone -- was clamoring for a rematch in the BCS "Championship" game before they even played the game. When Florida was bumped ahead of UM, everyone outside of Gainesville complained.

Then look at what happened: OSU and UM got stomped.

I'm not saying that will happen this season. Bama and LSU both look to be a cut above the rest of college football. But, I have to look back at that 2006 game when I keep seeing people immediately demanding a rematch.

It would have to be one hell of a game to outshine the epic matchup of Wisconsin-MSU from this Saturday. UA and LSU have it in them, certainly, but hyped games rarely deliver like Sparty v. Badgerbadgerbadger did.

What I'm trying to say is that was a killer game.

So they are moving the game to prime time to generate more interest and ad revenue. And I would almost bet they will be charging more for ads and/or showing more than usual. But the players cant be compensated.

Yes, but if there is a rematch then it will prove that UM got screwed.

They are moving the game to primetime to allow the players to have more time during the day to study for their upcoming midterms.

Good teams/coaches/players come and go, but there is always that one constant in the SEC: Verne and Gary will screw up the broadcast.

Oh, how I hate those two. Not enough to drive me away from an LSU game, but I die a little inside every time they are calling it.

What is that one? I'd guess it goes like: RB runs up middle for 4 yard gain on 3rd and 1. Verne: "I don't believe he got enough. That'll bring on the punt unit."

No, it is when like last Saturday Verne described Auburn starting QB Clint Moseley as getting his first start playing for LSU. You take a drink for stupid shiat like that.

This season's moment that had me yelling at the TV came during the Florida/Bama game. When Florida's QB fumbled, fell on the ball, had a Bama player take it away from him and start running. Refs announced that the ruling was fumble recovered by Florida, and that the review was of the recovery NOT the fumble. Even after this helpful explanation, those two had no clue what was going on, and repeatedly went back to the tape so that they could point out the ref who threw the 'Fumble' beanbag.

Playing the game would have taken me from sober to blacked out just in the space of those 2-3 minutes.

Night game favors LSU.

LSU's historical win v. loss in road night games is shocking. In the last ten years LSU has lost only one game (to Florida in 2008), when the games are played on the road or in a neutral setting, when the game was played at night. That's 30 wins with only 1 loss in the last ten years. That's road games only. LSU's night game stats at Tiger Stadium are equally amazing. LSU's big losses are always in day games. We hate day games. A day game in Alabama favors the Tide. A night game anywhere favors LSU.

Also Saban has to hate the time change. He blows a gasket when anyone suggests that one game is "bigger" or "more important" than another. But his players know this is a bigger game. The change of kickoff time confirms that this is a bigger game. LSU loves big games and comes to play. Saban loses his grip on sanity unless he can convince himself and his players that each is "just another game."

This will be a hell of a game. Either team can win. As an LSU homer, I give the edge to LSU.

2011-10-24 04:04:42 PM
Next year will be at night also. While typing my last post I received an email from Joe Alleva, LSU Athletic Director, which included this little nugget:

"So I am happy to inform you that, during the discussions pertaining to the move of the LSU-Alabama game on November 5 in Tuscaloosa to a night time kickoff, CBS committed its primetime telecast for next year by selecting the LSU vs. Alabama game at night in Tiger Stadium on CBS."

I'll post the rules in Saturday's CFB thread. My recommendation is to NOT consume a full drink or beer with each occurrence as you might not make it to the end of the 3rd quarter. That's what I did during Alabama/Florida and I had to watch the replay the next day to see the end if the game.

True, but the level of quarterback play for the likely national champion* will be embarrassing

T-Boy: But his players know this is a bigger game.

Yup. That's one of the things that they blamed the Tennessee halftime score on, looking ahead and not focusing on the game at hand.

LSU seems to have the mental edge on them. So long as Lee continues to throw no picks, I like our chances.

I thought the refs said Florida had called a time out. The announcers were dumb-founded (as was I). One of them finally gave up trying to understand it, and said "Tis a mystery'.
