Sounds like she knew she was doing something illegal and tried to sell it anyway.

i'm not sure how terrifying old ladies really fits into nasa's core mission of muslim outreach, but i think we have to assume that she got what was coming to her; she's white after all.

I think I see the connection. Under Shariah Law, women are property. Property can't own property, so she has no right to sell what she cannot legally own. NASA, as an arm of the caliphate, crafted an elaborate excuse to manipulate our law into allowing them to stop this violation of their law.

Racism doesn't even play into it, under the caliphate, all women are to be regarded as slaves. This is the America we live in.

It's so crazy it must be true.

no, you're right, race only came in to get the feel-goody liberals on board with the operation in the first place.

"She must know that this is a questionable transaction because she used the term `black market,'" Agent Conley states in the search warrant.

Curiously, though, Davis agreed to sell the sample to NASA for a stellar $1.7 million. She said she wanted to leave her three children an inheritance and take care of her sick son.

NASA investigators then arranged the sting...

So she thought about selling it on the black market. Then, NASA agreed to buy it for $1.7 million. Then they arrested her.

I'm having a hard time parsing this. She clearly knew it was illegal to sell it to a private collector. How in the world would you think that NASA's offer wasn't legitimate? I'm guessing she was relieved that she (thought she) wasn't going to end up breaking the law after all. Something here stinks. Maybe a lack of data, but as it's written, it's pretty ugly.

/I would have been okay if they'd have left out the part about her peeing herself

For years, NASA has gone after anyone selling lunar material gathered on the Apollo missions because it is considered government property, so cannot be sold for profit.

Still, NASA has given hundreds of lunar samples to nations, states and high-profile individuals but only on the understanding they remain government property. NASA's inspector general works to arrest anyone trying to sell them.

"This (is) abhorrent behavior by the federal government to steal something from a retiree that was given to her," said Davis's attorney, Peter Schlueter, who is planning legal action.

Yea, good luck with that, Pete.

They should charge Neil Armstrong for taking this and giving it to her husband.

I want more info on that as well. It sounds like Granny works out a deal to sell it back to NASA and NASA brings in the farking SWAT team over it. Going beyond that issue, why the fark do you need 6 armed police officers to handle Granny and her paper weight?

What you object to using military tactics in our war on crime, war on drugs, war on speeding, war on civil disobedience, etc... by our domestic police force? You must be a traitor to this country and we will be investigating you, you farking commie.

the fact that armstrong told investigators that he never gave anyone any moon pieces and the fact that she was trying to sell it "underground" obviously means obama is a stalinist

Illegal doesn't mean the same thing as wrong. Unjust laws should be defied.

Presumably the "NASA agent" was undercover and she didn't realize that the buyer was actually NASA. I'd be mildly surprised if NASA does a lot of its official procurement at the local Denny's.

/if you want to keep your spiffy SWAT team well-funded, you'd better jump on any excuse to put it to use

That's because "moon rocks" are decidedly terrestrial in origin. The more of them that find their way into the wild increases the chance they'll be analyzed and found to be petrified wood. (new window)

Fk the govt and fk NASA.

Hard to believe she couldnt find someone to help her sell that though. If you have anything like that and want to sell I guess step one would be to get out of the US. THEN sell.

Does the govt. know that NASA is not part of the govt.? How can a non govt. agency collect govt. property, unless they stole it to start with?

I mean. I can understand if the govt. contracted; eerr ordered is more like it, to launch a govt. satellite, and the thing exploded or otherwise 'rained' back to earth. THAT is govt. property, not a rock from a heavenly body that was recovered by a non-govt. agency, on a non-govt. mission.

NASA was established as an agency of the federal government by the National Aeronautics and Space Act in 1958.
