To be fair, the rebels did make the required "Paybacks are double" statement before shooting the loyalists in the back of the head.

2011-10-24 11:26:27 AM
Clearly a mass suicide. They all shot themselves in the back of their heads. Twice.

2011-10-24 01:24:27 PM
I'm a little more worried about mosquitos now.

2011-10-24 01:43:43 PM
They were killed in the crossfire. All of them.

2011-10-24 01:44:15 PM
It's called West Nile Virus, subster.

2011-10-24 01:44:32 PM
Not sure why this is weird.

2011-10-24 01:46:15 PM
This sucks.

Everyone's cashing in on grievances.

HA! OWNT!

2011-10-24 01:46:35 PM
I'd be asking the human rights assholes where they were when the dear leader was in charge and also if they would like to go for a ride in the desert.

STFU and let them clean up the place.
And by clean up the place, I mean execute with out prejudice anyone who supports or supported daffy.
Game over, time to pay the piper.

2011-10-24 01:47:00 PM
This would never happen under sharia law.

2011-10-24 01:47:44 PM
FTFA: ""We found 53 decomposing bodies, apparently (Gadhafi) supporters, at an abandoned hotel in Sirte, and some had their hands bound behind their backs when they were shot," said Peter Bouckaert, emergencies director of Human Rights Watch."

Clearly suicide.

Karma is a biatch.

Have fun pushing up daisies. Or cacti.

I can't feel bad about there being 53 fewer authoritarian goons in the world.

Looks like swamp gas to me

Weird tag?

Well, I guess there is no "war crimes" tag.

Bodies dumped in the District 2 water reservoir.
Brilliant!
I'm happy for their liberation thing they have going on there.
Hopefully education is on the new agenda.

Yep, I sure am glad NATO and our beloved President made the land safer for its populace (new window).

Before anyone is all "ok with this" people are being accused of being loyalists when they are nothing of the sort. Kind of like Afghans turning their enemies in to the US saying that they're al qaeda and getting reward money.

2011-10-24 01:51:54 PM
People who cry about the American Empire are apparently ok with the Empire fighting wars through proxies and assassinating foreign heads of state.

Hmm...

But But But... it was a Libyan who shot him!!! (Right after we carpet bombed the place for 6 months and dozens of Predator sorties in to kill at will.)

They fell down elevator shafts onto piles of bullets

Those murderous rebels should ne sentenced to bottle feed adorable kittens. For two weeks.

They have heart attack and fell out of window onto exploding bomb, and were killed in shooting accident. Nasty business.

You probably shouldn't go straight for the revenge executions of your enemies when you're claiming to be revolting against an ironfisted dictatorship.

At least produce some mock trials or something.

2011-10-24 01:55:13 PM
Well, thats what happens when you murder, rape and torture a population for 40 years. These people should have left the country long ago... or they needed to read a book or two about the French revolution...

FTFA - "This requires the immediate attention of the Libyan authorities to investigate what happened and hold accountable those responsible."

Too late, they already shot Gaddafi.

Plus, there are loyalists and there are cronies. Cronies are one thing (although a trial would be nice) but loyalists are often people who just grew up in the system and drank the kool aid. They believed their leader which, while possibly stupid, is understandable.

And not everyone who fought on the side of Khadafi deserves summary execution, no matter what we think of the guy.

2011-10-24 01:57:41 PM
Yay it's OK to commit murder as long as you claim your victim was unpopular!

How do you know?

2011-10-24 01:58:09 PM
Hey, some of these people had families to support. They were just doing their jobs, anyone of us could have been in their position. Any loss of human life is tragic. The inhumanity shown here is not progress and no doubt foreshadows the coming brutality that will occur under the new regime as the rebels take over.

Now you see the violence inherent in the system.

Due process for all should really be the rally cry for "freedom". Not revenge killings for some, the offhand rape for others, tiny little honor killings for others.

Due process, access to trials and court justice for all...from GITMO to Libya, to that one woman in Iran who just wanted to make a movie, to the leaders of Syria, to OWS.

You do realize that our involvement was minimal, right?

Oh, you're just blaming America.

Must be so lonely being the only enlightened individual amongst us sheep.

Libya announced today that they will be instituting Sharia law.

AWESOME! The US creates another government stuck in the 12th century!

Just think how much easier things would be now if they'd just summarily executed all the Southern sympathizers in 1865!

I am sure you would have liked to invade and spend another $700 billion. The thought of muscular young US troops shooting brown people gives freepers big throbbing erections.

And pots of gold at the end of every rainbow!

Seriously, it was a bloody third world revolution. This is how it works. They'll be lucky if they get a corrupt court system sometime in the next ten years.

Well, we certainly would be doing better if the Redeemers were shot.

Pinner: Hopefully education is on the new agenda.

Reportedly, the interim government will be based upon theocratic Sharia law and overseen by religious conservatives. Consequently, education will be actively oppressed; religious conservatives universally abhor education.

THIS. Maybe they all didn't have close range bullet wounds?

They were killed en masse. No mystery here.

Mentat:

Clearly a mass suicide. They all shot themselves in the back of their heads. Twice.

From 20 feet away. With their hands tied behind their backs. They were very talented.

Soviet troops raping random German women as they fought their way to Berlin might well have been a greivous and heinous violation of human rights. (Yes even Nazi women, and yes even in revenge for similar atrocities.) But this? Eh. Color me unimpressed.
