That's 59 years, 364 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds too long. Renewal is a good idea, just let me finish one damn short story first.

You think living past 50 is too long? shiat, most people have to wait that long just to get rid of their kids.

Let's see how you feel about that at 49 years, 364 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds.

My guess is you'll change your mind.

I know a couple of 50 year-olds that have kids in grade school.

She exceeded a hundred. How is it remotely a tragedy that she didn't linger to the age of a round number?

I'm still pleased for her (you go, random person I've never met nor ever will!) that she was self-sufficient until about 104. That's good living right there.

So never have kids. Seriously. Life is much easier without them: you don't even really need a full-time steady job with only yourself to think of. For men sterilization is cheap & easy and it's usually covered by "health plans," even by Medicaid in several states. (And should be free, by the way.)

I always hear people with kids express two sentiments about them: "I live for my kids, they're the most precious thing" and "I can't wait till these brats are grown and gone." Aren't those mutually exclusive or are breeders stupid masochists?

I doubt it. I'm still not sure I'll bother to live even that long, and I'll be 49 in March.

But then by farking around here I'm putting off straightening up my apartment, so....

I can't stand liberal lifers like you. Once the breeding peak age is over, then they need to die and make way for the next generation. My estimates are around the age of 25. A highly motivated couple, assuming they start around 14 or so can get out 7 maybe 8 snowflakes in that span.

/But I'm 12 and what is this?

"Mrs Vickery was widowed in 1964"

one day in 1963, Mr vickery tired of his wife's antics angrily told her " you wouldnt last more than 4 years without me around to do everything for you!!!" she retorted " well .... I .... I...." Her mind blanked, and she blurted out "I would last 40 years!"

"thats silly" he said "even if i died next year you'd probably be the oldest woman alive if you lasted 40 years from now, all i'd have to do is live 5-10 more years to prove you wrong!"

And now, dear readers, you know why Mr vickery died suspiciously early... For you see, no matter how trivial, a woman is always right.

You've never had a relationship with someone where at different points in time you are very fond of them and then totally annoyed with them? It is actually quite common. Perhaps you've never had a relationship with anyone long enough to experience it.

No, it's just Sturgeon's Law: 90% of everything is crud, but the remaining 10% makes it all worthwhile. The two sentiments you hear reflect the 10% and 90%, respectively.

Genta: "Mrs Vickery was widowed in 1964"

One of the jobs of a husband in a long-lasting marriage is to have the decency to die before his wife, so she can have a few "golden years" at the end in which she doesn't have to work so hard.

Of course, this guy took it to an extreme, but some guys show extra commitment.
