Good kid.

Her mother is fat. Haha, fat.

We're done here. Close this topic.

My wife taught my 5 year old son to call 911 today if there's an emergency and we are too hurt to get to our phones.

/just waiting on the cops to show up at the door and hoping the house is clean when they do.

Meanwhile, when I was 3 or 4, I crank called Australia....

Oh brrrrother now the kid'll be milking it for the rest of his life.

And I'm gonna need to see a birth certificate on this "two" year old.... long form.

What's with kids and being so smart these days? Shiat, when I was two, I was running around the house naked when company was over.

/then again, they missed out on the 90s, so nyah.

FTA: "On Thursday, Larissa Taylor fell next to her 8-month-old daughter's bed and was lying in a way that stopped her from breathing"

That must have been a pretty big lie.

Stupid kid can't even dial 911.

2011-10-23 08:35:00 PM
I wonder if diabetic mom had introduced her 2-year-old to the phone prior to this. It's not unusual for parents with medical conditions to stress the importance of the phone =/= a toy to their young kids.

2011-10-23 08:35:04 PM
Note to self: clear cellphone log so the last call shown isn't "Mexican women and their donkeys Chat Line".

Good for young Lia Vega!
Collapses from low b.g. are bad enough, but since it says mom Larissa fell in such a way at to keep her from breathing, that woulda done her in faster than the low b.g. & the seizure she may have had from it.
know this from long experience

10 bucks says fattie never takes her medications.

/Diabetes really IS a manageable condition if you take your medications, eat right, try to get a bit of exercise in, and don't indulge in stupid habits (ie. drugs, excessive drinking, etc.).
//Don't have it; runs in my family, so I know PLENTY of people who do

Grandma is the big fail here for not calling an ambulance after the call from the kid.

hicksfa2: 10 bucks says fattie never takes her medications.

I'll take that bet. TFA says she went hypoglycemic. It's kind of tough to do that if you aren't taking meds.

slc11082: 5 bucks says the fat Mexican mom is unmarried and her mother is under 50.

That's no bet; that's a sure thing.

/not sure what the big deal is about this story. If that kid hadn't made the call I'm sure her other 12 kids would have.

That's freakin unreal. Most people don't understand that they're quite aware at a very young age because nothing unique usually happens when your that young. I can recall very vivid memories from age 4 because I had my appendix out. It was so rare for that to happen to someone 4 I could have died from the rupture before a doctor actually checking for that. I remember how aware I was at that time (being 4) and it blows my mind now.

Mostly Type-II, though I have one who is Type-I. I've already had one aunt pass away due to complications from Type-I diabetes after she went a week refusing to take her medication, go to dialysis, or adjust her diet; because she didn't give a shiat about her health.

It really is a manageable disease. You just have to stay on top of your game, and realize it's not a goddamn joke.

Anyone else think that kid should get the world's most awesome ice cream cone?

Yep, just as I suspected... a sucker's bet.

Her 2-year-old daughter, Lia Vega, picked

Ice cream cone? With all that high fructose corn syrup?

You want the kid to be a diabetic as well?

If you RTA, it appears as though the little girl's mother wasn't aware she was diabetic at the time of her collapse. The article indicates that the doctors at the hospital diagnosed her as having diabetes.

I have two cartons of ice cream in my freezer, one Tillamook brand, one Haagen-Dazs. Neither of them contain HFCS.

Bathia_Mapes: If you RTA, it appears as though the little girl's mother wasn't aware she was diabetic at the time of her collapse. The article indicates that the doctors at the hospital diagnosed her as having diabetes.

no the articles doesn't. (at least not anymore.)

tfa says: Taylor was taken to the hospital, where doctors informed her she had several seizures because she was hypoglycemic and diabetic. Her low blood-sugar level triggered the seizures.

untreated (or undiagnosed) diabetes leads to high blood sugar. hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is a reaction to too much insulin or not enough food.

high blood sugar over YEARS leads to blindness, gangrene, impotence and such. high blood sugar is RARELY an emergency. (eventually, you go into a coma.)

low blood sugar causes diabetic cops to drive into donut shops, diabetic dads dancing naked on the roof, tossing babbies into lakes and fat moms to pass out next to sissy's bed. i don't buy any of that "lying in a way that stopped her from breathing" BS.

this case is a shame, but it looks like darwin already missed his chance with Larissa, twice.

Texas, where I'm from, has the highest rate of 24 year old grandmothers.

Awesome 100%

- kid watches and learns/is taught about trichorder device.
- multi generation family that is close knit exists (yay +1)
- mom goes down
- kid realizes "whoa, shiat jes' got real" Better do something.
- kid reacts with powerful tool (communication)
- mom lives to love kid and gramma some more
- win-win-win

Made me youtube a little Bob Marley "One Love"

I usually act the Fark guy, but not today I don't.
Good job little one, hopefully life smiles on you.

/Hugs nephew and plays Indaina Jones LEGO with him.

Maybe she wouldn't have diabetes if she climbed on the treadmill once in a while, I also know for a fact that people have incredibly poor eating habits. keep eating a fast food joints you morons see if you live to see 60.

You never made your own? *raises eyebrow* That must've been a sad and lonely childhood...

As a small token to thank her daughter for saving her life, Taylor said she's allowing her to get away with a few things she usually wouldn't have.

Yes, reward your daughter for saving your life with lack of discipline. Can't afford an ice-cream cone? Or will momma fattie just eat it?

I read that part as them telling her about the seizures as a new part of her condition. Still, it's scary that someone could just not know that they're that sick until one day, BOOM.
