nekom: WTF Indeed: 2016 will be a western democrat.

Anyone in particular in mind? By my predictions, 2012 is a lock for Obama, who do you think will rise to the top of the field for 2016?

Are you kidding? The President is going to be blamed for the economy regardless of circumstances. The economy cannot recover fast enough to make a difference now. The best he could hope for is for it to take a major turnaround and companies start hiring like crazy.

Can anybody foresee any circumstances where that is going to happen?

Warren/Franken, Franken/Warren

Either one.

Unless politics and political discussions change by 2016, I'm likely to be too tired of all this partisan crap to even care any more by then.

We're only five years away. Maybe we should start debates.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was John Hickenlooper, the current governor of Colorado. He is right wing enough and a former BUSINESS MAN JOB CREATOR

I consider myself fairly conservative and I'd vote for that. Or Feingold in either spot.

The Martian Manhandler: Not too long ago, I would have said Anthony Weiner in 2016.

I wanted Feingold/Weiner untill he got tossed. Weiner cared about the voters far more than most of them. Still sad about that one. The guy having a sexting affair had little effect on his ability to govern if the media left him alone. Feel the same about both sides unless they preach against it then get caught doing it then its an issue.

Flatulent_Flea: Sleeping Monkey: Elizabeth Warren 2016

My wife wasn't familiar with Elizabeth Warren a few weeks ago. I told her "She's America's first female President."

I'm standing by that prediction.

I was initially hoping for Anthony Weiner, but we all know how that turned out.

I didn't know much about Warren before, but every single thing I've seen about her thus far has been VERY impressive. If she's as legit as I think she is, she stands a good chance.

Weiner is a case of the cover-up being worse than the crime. If he had admitted it straight off the bat, he might still be in office.

all the polls that have happened up till now show they don't really blame Obama for it - they understand where the blame lies - mostly with the "conservatives".

Warner/Warren is a winner on several levels. Most importantly, as a likely winner.

Yeah, It was poorly handled but I still think it was not worth him leaving office. There have been far worse things done by people who stay in office.

sheilanagig: Here's the thing, Hillary's credentials are actually pretty impressive. She's got more all-around insight and political experience than any of the candidates running at the moment combined.

She's saved a questionable political career by becoming the best Secretary of State we've had in the last century (at least). But she's done it by spending a number of years basically living on a 747. She's said she needs a rest and won't stay in office if Obama is re-elected. By 2016, she'll be in her 70s and likely well into the Eleanor Roosevelt phase of her life, doing charity work and polishing her (and Bill's) reputation.

Not necessarily...as I age, I get more liberal, not less.

Yeah, I've grown more liberal too. I think the era of people growing conservative as they age is over.

I also started out as a libertarian capitalist type, then I grew up and got a job. Getting more conservative as you get older - assuming it is or ever was true - has, I suspect, more to do with brain loss due to aging.

/Snark
//Maybe

Well the truth of it is by world standards america's "liberal" party is to the right of center anyway. It is just more near to the center than the far right conservative side.

Well, yes, but I'm Canadian and pretty left by Canadian standards. What's your point?

John Hickenlooper of Colorado seems like he'd have a good chance if he ran. A popular governor in a purple state would probably be very electable.

Age isn't always an obstacle. How old was Reagan? Personally I'd like to see her maintain a political presence one way or another for as long as she remains compos mentis.

OutLawSuit: John Hickenlooper

I had not heard of him until just now and I consider my self as quite the politics junky so mild issue but can be overcome. After reading up on him he will get slammed by the right on his marijuana stance and welfare of the poor but that may help him in the long run.

Kirsten Gillabrand, you people are retarded if you think she won't run, and won't do well.

2011-10-23 11:24:18 PM

sheilanagig: GAT_00: Because fark it, why not? I don't want Hillary. Never, ever. I'd absolutely love for Warren to run for it, but to straight first term Senators is unlikely to work. Who else from the Democratic Party would go? Phil Bredesen would be great if someone could get him to run. He won the Governor's office for the second time with 68% of the vote, the most lopsided in Tennessee history. He's also a big health care guy. But he sat out 2008 completely.

Here's the thing, Hillary's credentials are actually pretty impressive. She's got more all-around insight and political experience than any of the candidates running at the moment combined.

Plus we'd have the undeniably delicious spectacle of Weaver flipflopflippin' right back to the the GOP.

You can figure that the Republitards aren't going to vote for him. There is 40% of the voters. Of the 40% Emocrats there is a large number of them with buyers remorse. Figure at least 10% are going to say no. Of the remaining they consistantly vote with their pocketbook regardless of anything else. Even knowing that the Obamessiah was stuck with a shiat sammich does not change the fact that Reagan had the same thing and yet managed to have the perception that things were getting better. The Obamessiah lacks that. If anything the perception is things are about to get a lot worse.

I'm a libertarian and don't give a rat's ass about either party. I want all of them hung for treason and other high crimes. Neither one of the major parties are anything more than a bunch of dweebs farking things up. But if I had to choose, I wouldn't choose a nitwit like the Obamessiah. I'd pick Hillary with a raging case of hemmorhoids and on PMS while waving a flamethrower over him. She at least has her head up her own ass instead of the union's collective asses.

/vote NO for President in 2012

tenpoundsofcheese: this is a place for mocking news. there is nothing serious or relevant to any serious discussions here.

You're right, so let me start. I've voted Democrat for 40 farking years (well, since 1972...close enough) and I'm here to mock the idea of Joe Biden running for the top spot in '16.

Joe's too dumb to be President. How dumb is he? He's so farking dumb he's George Bush...without the brains. That's how dumb Joe is.

There, I've said it. Don't run, Joe. Retire to give speeches and raise money for the DNC. Hell, run for the Senate again!

Just don't embarrass yourself and us by running for President.

If you vote for ME for president in 2016, I promise to spend all my time pointing out how much of a dickhole everyone in congress is, right up until I'm shot to death in public.

it would still be worth it.

If the GOP fields candidates in 2016 like they did now, even Obama's kids could get more votes for president and they aren't even old enough yet for office. Fortunately we can count on those asses to start campaigning even earlier next cycle than this one and Biden should have quite a bit of time to decide if he wants to be president or not. For all intents and purposes, winning should be a forgone conclusion in the general election. His only difficulty *might* be the primaries. The way the Fark trolls/conservative knob-gobblers are attacking him surely demonstrates how scared they are of his potential to win. And if these losers have shown us anything, time an again, they more they hate something the better it is. Similarly the more certain they are something can't ever happen (or is certain) the more likely it is (or isn't).

\So how bout some statisticals, Gary?
\\where is that guy?

NewportBarGuy: Yeah, that would go over about as well as Al Gore in 2000.

I don't think he could get two thirds of the votes that Al Gore got. Unless he was running against Perry it wouldn't be close. But if the choice is Biden and Perry I won't give a shiat because I'll completely give up on the US politics.
