Officials with the Richland County Sheriff's Department say 32-year-old Mark A. Cornish was arrested after deputies received a tip that a uniformed officer entered a motel room with a known prostitute, identified as a 17-year-old.

Sheriff Leon Lott says when deputies arrived at the scene, Cornish fled in his patrol car. He was found later in the afternoon a few blocks from the scene.

Deputies say Cornish has met the woman on more than one occasion.

When I think of prostitutes, I can only think of unfortunate men. Perhaps an unemployed disabled veteran who has one testicle, in addition to a littany of other medical problems, who no one cares about, who can't get laid with anything that looks less than a wooly mammoth to save his life...the kind of unfortunate that has to save up for six months only to find out that that cool hundred will only buy a BJ if care isn't taken.

Personally, I don't have a problem with prostitution. As a matter of fact, I stick by something someone important once said...the only good thing about a prostitute is that being with one will likely be the most honest relationship you will ever have with a woman. The only thing wrong with this is the decent women folk, etc. who are enraged when children are thrown under the bus. You know, if the DA wanted to be a fark and this wasn't a uniformed officer, the penalties would have been much worse.

Another point of prostitution has been made for me. Guys, seriously, save up money for a bit, okay. Then you get with reputable escort agency....no exceptions. Heck, even an asian massage parlor will give you more for your money, in relative safety, than a street ho. $250-$400 for a decent escort means you avoid a lot of BS and you even get anal, if that's your thing. You either get the hustle (street) the flow (escort) or the throw (massage parlors).

Actually, that is important information. I would assume that the age of consent in SC is 16 or less and this guy worked in a middle school so he wasn't in a position of authority over the girl. If there wasn't money exchanged then a crime wasn't committed. (It would have just been icky)

I also said in another post...if the DA wanted to be a fark. How do you know the officer wasn't manipulating the girl? As an officer of the law, they have access to all sorts of private, legal information on your entire family. To be a little simpler, I wonder how many 16 year old girls gave an officer head to avoid a speeding ticket. The possibilities are endless. When I said this girl was being thrown under the bus, it may be because if you go to jail for one day, cops can say you were drinking water from a toilet and you can not do a thing about it except call them liars. How do we even know this was a known prostitute? People like you scare me. No brains. The age of consent thing only wins out if you can afford over $80K for a lawyer once the state decides to proceed in a certain direction....then again, perhaps you are a law enforcement sympathizer or you have no personal experience with law enforcement at all.

i always get confused with the differing ages of consent in the US.

of course - as this is a fark thread - the US contingent usually exercise their gag reflex when the girl is under 18.

If she's a known hooker, then she's a known hooker..... regardless of her age...... she may be 17, but then again she may have a dozen arrests for soliciting already behind her.............
and if a guy is busted for a call girl - as long as she's legal - then I feel sorry for him

What's the despicable nature of the crime? Hiring a hooker? I wish prostitution would just be legalized already. She's not a child and she is not under age in SC. He's not a pedophile - pedos like 'em younger. I'm going to assume that the police or news organizations would not refer to her as a known prostitute unless she has a record. The police chief has said he (the john) will lose his job if the allegations are correct. He can probably wave bye bye to his job, marriage, home, future as a chaplain, etc. That's a pretty steep price to pay for a BJ.

If further evidence comes out that he coerced her into sex b/c he had a uniform, or that he hit on underage girls at the middle school, then yep, he's a creep. Until then, innocent until proven guilty, eh? If you were to hang every married man who has paid a hooker, there'd be a lot more widows around. If you were to hang every married man who has had sex with a woman who is not his wife and not a prostitute - probably after spending much more wining and dining her - heck, you don't want to know how many widows we'd have.

Apparently, the clergy doesn't always wait until people are incarcerated to offer or provide spiritual counseling. So, now this young married guy cares enough about saving this poor girl's soul that the put himself in a situation that on the surface makes him look bad. He may have paid for the motel room in order to get her off the street, let her know that he cares about her, and have ample time to talk with her without distractions that would happen in he only talked to her while she was hanging out on the street. Clearly, his situation was wrongly misconstrued. Give the poor guy a break. After all, his heart was in the right place, right?
