Nonsense. That circle isn't pink, it's mauve.

2011-10-23 05:23:36 AM
Stupid claim. Pink really exists in any system that describes the way humans see things they call colors. Redefining "color" as "wavelength" is an invalid argument.

Agreed, definitely not pink.

And what's this video going on about? Pink is what we replace x rays, gamma rays, etc with? Huh? People are going to think x-rays are pink now.

I'd call it more of a plain 'ol purple, but it sure as hell isn't pink.

Pink doesn't exist? Fine by me, it's a silly color anyway.

2011-10-23 05:37:16 AM
Eh? So by the reckoning of whoever wrote the article, "yellow" is a figment of our imagination to. It's just "minus blue".

Okay, I thought the same thing.
I guess 'show me some minus green' does have some merit, but just doesn't sound quite right.

2011-10-23 05:44:07 AM
So by their reasoning white, gray, black, brown and many more colors don't exist. That's just stupid. The colors exist, they are just made up of more than one wavelength. To say that multiple wavelength colors don't exist is just a blatant lie.

They say opposites attract so that explains why women like guys with money.

Colors are an emergent property of an interaction of several factors including material properties, lighting properties, and most importantly human psychology.
Wavelength != color, only people who know dick about color think this.

2011-10-23 06:11:54 AM
then how am I going to make everyone aware that breast cancer exists?

letrole: rev. dave: So the opposite of the Green is Pink?

Pink causes a subtraction of green.

Yes the word opposite seems incorrect. Its more of a binary thing where green =1 and pink = 0.

I used to have a similar argument with a friend. She would prattle on that black was not a color, and I would say what color is my shirt then? As I was wearing a black shirt, she would just get all mad, saying I was missing the point.

No fair making me define my terms before publishing an article making "groundbreaking, counter-intuititve claims".

Ungreen isn't pink, it's magenta.

"FTFA...
Here are five changes we'd have to make if "pink" no longer existed:
1. Drag racers in The Fast and the Furious would race for "Minus green slips";
2. Our parents would have made us listen to "Minus Green Floyd" records when really we just wanted to watch The Simpsons;
3. We'd rent out joke about renting out 1980s teen classic Pretty in Minus Green;
4. Our firmest friendship pacts would be governed by a "Minus Greeny promise";
5. Pop star "Minus Green" would sell out six shows in Melbourne"

Oh dear god...

erewhon: Ungreen isn't pink, it's magenta.

No its pink.
Red blue and green make white (in light).
Deeper Magenta light would be like 80% red with 20% blue.

Paints (pigmnets) are the opposite.

Isn't this true for all colours - they don't exist outside of our brains?

What makes this one so unique?
