It was probably more like Stucco that they put over the hole.

It's Adobe. It was a piece of transparent tape. Made with post-it glue. Covering a piece of plate glass. And they attached it with staples.

Don't be shy, tell us how you really think.

FTA: "The fix did not require users to do anything more than stop shaking."

What does Adobe have against those afflicted with Parkinson's? For shame...

No. Macs are immune to malware. If somebody cannot write a piece of software that can make a Mac do something that is undesireable then somebody cannot write a piece of software that can make a Mac do something that is undesireable. Period. Macs are impervious. The whole article was written by some Micro$oft doosh trying to piss on Jobs's grave.

I use electrical tape for that.

/ I save duct tape for holding my case closed after I lose the screws.

The last paragraphs worry me. I assumed that I could download flash and it would have some level of (in)security that would remain constant. Instead it phones home to see how much the world gets to mess with me today. If I were in law enforcement I would see a great opportunity. Targeted spying on any flash user by serving an order on Adobe.

No, not really.

If it is the built in webcam, the light will still illuminate. AFAIK, that is not software controlled.

Isn't that how that school district got busted peeping on twinks/tweens?

The discovery is an example of a 'clickjacking' hole, also known as your mother.

I still don't trust that.

I was actually a little concerned until I saw it only affected Macs - then I found it quite funny.

Eh, with all the html 5 voice capabilities and windows 7's voice recognition capabilities, I never have a mic or webcam plugged in unless I'm using them. On my laptop I've just disabled the webcam in the device manager. I don't think Google has any intention of listening to me all day while I work, but I also don't need to make it easy for them, or anyone else.

I have always thought that Adobe's flash setting manager was complete and utter crap and had no business existing for as long as it has.

Duct tape? Everyone knows you put electrical tape over it because its less noticeable.

I have a Mac mini hooked up to a 50-inch TV. No webcam.

So, you have size issues?

Very simply, the 'bug' was a web page deliberately designed to could trick a Mac user into turning on webcam access, by hiding the settings popup.

1. You had to be using a Mac.
2. You had to go to the malicious site.
3. You had to hit a sequence of keys designed to navigate the hidden settings popup.
4. You then granted permission for the flash movie on that site to access your mike and camera (if any) while on that site.
5. There are no reports of this ever happening.

Adobe's 'fix' was making the settings popup nonfunctional when hidden.

I feel really bad for anyone dumb enough to hack into my webcam.
